Hi, I'm Bob Parsons. Here with Leeann.
What up Internet?

00:12, 00:20
On this episode of my video blog, I'm going to tell you how to get lucky.

00:23, 00:27
Whoa, this is a PG rated video blog.

00:30, 00:33
Okay, PG-13 rated video blog.

00:34, 00:41
But I'm not talking about that kind of lucky. I'm talking about luck in business and life.

00:46, 01:04
Now, luck isn't necessarily something you're born with. In fact, the only difference between you, and the people you see as being extremely lucky, is how you think and how they think. Here's how to change your mindset and change your luck.

01:12, 01:15
Be there or be square.

01:16, 01:29
Simply put, lucky people show up. Great things don't usually happen while you're sitting on your big wide ass. So get up and get productive.

01:33, 01:40
I'll try anything once. Sometimes twice.

01:41, 01:45
Lucky people are open to trying new things, and new ways of doing things.

01:48, 01:56
Trying new things exposes you to new learning opportunities. That knowledge can be applied to the things you do in life and business.

01:56.5, 02:05
And those new techniques, well often they make you more successful. And when you're more successful, you appear to be luckier.

02:07, 02:10
Narcissists need not apply.

02:12, 02:30
Lucky people spend an absolute minimum amount of time thinking about themselves. Instead, they focus on the people around them, their current projects, or new opportunities. Because of this awareness, they're often more successful than they would be otherwise and they appear to be very lucky.

02:30, 02:46
In contrast, the self obsessed are often too tied up in their own problems or challenges to notice the great opportunities and all of the exciting things happening around them. As a result, they appear to be very unlucky because they have never given it a chance.

02:48, 03:01
Que Sera Sera. Whatever will be, will be. The future's not ours to see. Que Sera Sera.

03:02, 03:12
Lucky people don't usually worry about or fret over results or consequences. Instead, they focus on whatever project and process they're involved in.

03:12, 03:25
When we worry too much about the what ifs, we often talk ourselves out of trying new ideas or pursuing new prospects. Face it, you can come up with a reason not to do anything.

03:28, 03:33
Find that silver lining.

03:35, 03:47
People who appear to be lucky know how to turn problem situations into opportunities. To do this, you can't be pre-occupied with the personal consequences.

03:47, 04:01
Sure, those consequences matter, but if you can set them and your feelings aside, you'll be able to see the problem for what it really is, and in the process turn a lot of those problems into jackpot opportunities.

04:04, 04:12
If they don't like you, (bleep) them. What, say something.
Whoa, easy tiger.

04:12, 04:21
Lucky people are able to overcome criticism. It's hard not to take criticism personally. Trust me, I get criticized a lot.

04:21, 04:26
"Laced with sex. Maybe objectifies women. Whatever you want to call it."

04:26, 04:39
The trick here is to not let the criticism freeze you up and keep you from following your plan, or trying new things.

04:43, 04:49
Instead, use the criticism as fuel to do things bigger and better.

04:52, 04:55
Follow the golden rule.

04:57, 05:14
Lucky people make it a point to do right by other people. When you listen to and help others, they make it a point to reciprocate and take care of you too. And the fact is, none of us, not any of us, achieve success all by ourselves.

05:17, 05:19
Life is good.

05:19, 05:23
Lucky people make it a point to have a positive attitude.

05:23, 05:26
"I feel good."

05:26, 05:35
When you attack life with an upbeat, positive attitude, you're sharper and more willing to tackle any issues that come your way.

05:40, 05:44
Have great expectations.

05:45, 06:04
Lucky people expect to do well. You have to believe in yourself and know that you are a winner. If anyone tries to tell you differently, you should be quick to tell them, "(bleep) off".

06:07, 06:10
Find balance.

06:12, 06:24
People who are lucky are kind, first and foremost, to themselves. They make time for themselves, and their families. And they always take time to have fun.

06:30, 06:38
Well that's a wrap for this episode. If you have any comments or questions, please post them here. I'm always interested in what you have to say.

06:38.5, 06:44
For Leeann, and myself, thanks for watching.
We'll see ya next time.

06:45.5, 06:58
During my life, I've assembled a collection of 16 rules. Most of them I learned the hard way. These rules helped me in business and my personal life. There's a good chance they'll help you too.

06:59, 07:14
Today's rule, #13. Never expect life to be fair. Life isn't fair. You make your own breaks. You'll be doing good if the only meaning fair has to you, is something that you pay when you get on a bus (i.e., fare).
