Bob,
I have been using Money Counts since you first released it. I was using Money Counts 9.0c up until 1/3/2009 when my computer crashed. My new computer arrived 7 days later with Windows Vista on it and Money Counts won't install or run on it so I tried to install it on my laptop that still has XP Professional on it. Since my old computer ran XP Professional I thought that it would work on the laptop also but I am having the same problem, it won't install or run. I have tried running it in compatability mode on both computers but that doesn't work either. Do you have any ideas why or how to make it work again. I need to get my tax info for 2008 so I can do my taxes and I like Money Counts and don't want to have to switch to a different program. Thank you for a great product and I hope you can give me some ideas on how to make it work again. Jeffery Morehead on Jan 22 2009, 04:26pm Reply
Money Counts for DOS on newer computers. I have been using Money Counts since 1985 or 86. I kept using version 6.5 until it would not handle the y2k year roll over. I then switched to version 8. I am still using it. I had bought all of the upgrades as they came out and just stored them away. In the last couple of years, I have done extensive research on making version 8 run on fast computers that give the runtime 200 error problem. I have completly solved that problem by using MoSlow for Business. I am now running my MC8 on any current day computers under both DOS7 or VMware virtural machines. If anybody is interested in my research let me know. I have this comment tagged for notification. Dallas on Mar 2 2010, 09:25am Reply
Jeffery... I saw you comment on Money Counts and I still use it too. I have it working just fine on my Vista system. I got it to work by changing the compatibility settings when you right click on the program's icon. Course I didn't have any trouble installing the program, just couldn't get the backup file to install and establish itself untill I changed the compatibililty settings to work in and older windows environment (Windows 95 Compatibility Mode). Good evening Mr. Parsons,
Thank you for the providing the blog article. I have been searching for a contact number or email address so I can inquire about the availability of access for downloading the MemberPlus software including MoneyCounts. Our church purchased the program and have been using it successfully. However our computer has failed and we are unable to use it any more. We have moved and I am not able to locate the program cd software or information. I believe the software was registered under Fresh Anointing International Church Birmingham, AL a few years back. We would sure be blessed if we could download it from a site on the internet.
Thank you for your help.

How interesting! I bought many Parsons software packages, but my favorite was and is Money Counts 9.0 which I still use. I was so disappointed when you sold it to Intuit and they did not continue Money Counts. I hate Quicken because it does not follow accounting principals the way Money Counts did.
I also like Go Daddy as a host for our church webpage.
Best luck to you.

Hi Bob, Keith and Jon,
First and foremost thanks to Bob for the informative and interesting story about Bob and the GoDaddy site. Having worked in software engineering for many years, I too arrived at the conclusion that shrink-wrap as we know it will is destined to go away and will be replaced by software as a service.
And that brings to me to the comment posted by Keith and Jon. We have created an online booking system that enables all small- and medium sized business to accept online reservations, regardless of business type. Completely hosted, so no software or hardware needs to be installed, the booking system even allows businesses with multiple outlets and associations to collaborate and create branded websites.
We have a common goal - make it easy and fun for virtually person or entity to accept bookings and I would be delighted to discuss opportunities for to us to work together.

I enjoyed reading your bio...it gives hope.
I too had an Apple II, and I use to help our teachers load software with the old audio cassette tapes in their Trash 80's...they could never get the tone right.
My friend and I have started our own software company...a little late in the game, but it is still a wide open field, and software, and the Internet have not scratched the surface.
We use Godaddy exclusively to create URL's for our customers. I would like to offer you service to add to your product line-up. We make an online gift certificate system, and an online reservation system for small business. You can't beat the price. We would like to offer the http://www.giftedsites.com for one year free for every new Godaddy customer. No fees, or charges. Completely secure.
Jon and I also offer the online reservation system..which frankly we would like to sell. We do not have the infrastructure to create these new accounts. Basically, it allows small websites to take an online booking like the big guys through http://www.datelock.com. Godaddy could offer this on a fee basis, or better, a pay per booking basis.
Hope to hear from you. Loved your story, and website.

Now that I want to install it in a laptop, disks are damaged and cannot be read. Do you know of anyway of my getting any MCW new disks? Quicken doesn't even come close to MCW!! Good luck in your new venture!
I keep bumping into you. First, many many years ago when I puchased MoneyCounts. A great program!!
When you sold to Intuit, I was sort of lead to Quickbooks where I have been eversince.
Then, I hire a guy to register my company name. He does that but hasn't taken it any further. I hire another guy and in order to get going again, I need to contact GoDaddy to change things over.
Who is on the main page but someone named Bob Parsons.
You seem to be way ahead of the curve!!
I remember a story I read about you when you 'finally' succeeded with your accounting software. I think it was in Entrepreneur Magazine. It said you decided to sell it for $19.95 or so and were deluged by orders. Again, way ahead of the curve.
Then you started 'maintenance updates' and probably made more on those than the original sales of the software. I sort of wish you hadn't taught them that lesson.
I wondered if you were the same guy that started Parsons Technology. The only software that I have never been able to replace is Parsons "Address Book". Nothing else is an good to this day. Only wish it was still supported by Intuit so I could get an updated version. Amazing bio and good luck to you. patoot on Feb 11 2006, 10:39am Reply

Dear Damian,
I admire the goal you have, however it's not for me to be involved with.
I genuinely appreciate what our troops have done and are doing (in all conflicts this country has ever been involved in). I've also been very vocal about this. That said, I simply cannot get involved in every new endeavor, in fact I have to limit what I do to my own pursuits.
Please understand that my time and resources are very limited.
This is regarding the US government's recent ban on privacy for all .US domain names. I understand that you believe liberty should prevail in this matter.
Have you considered the concept of civil disobedience to defeat the government on this issue?
What do you think would happen if GoDaddy publicly announced that, on a specific future date, ALL .US domain name privacy that was originally removed will be reinstated, in clear violation of the new law? Even if they tried to stop you, they couldn't, because laws cannot stop outlaws. The publicity would be unprecedented.
Watch the movie Gandhi and you will see exactly what will happen. The government will enforce the law against you and it will make a fool out of itself in the process.
When the law is wrong, public nonviolent noncooperation is an option to show the brutality of the system.
Please visit our website for more information on civil disobedience.
Thank you very much for your time! Mike (http://NHFree.com) on May 27 2005, 09:45am Reply
Dear Mike,
If we did that, we'd be de-credited in a finger snap, and then our .US customers would be dealing with another registrar. Consequences are just too big, and we'd accomplish nothing.

(The nerve, right?) I am president of a small staffing firm in Ohio.
If you would ever consider helping a complete stranger, I have the same philosophy about treating people right-no smoke and mirrors. I have a partner in a current business that doesn't operate like I want to, so I've reached a level of frustration. (But he's the one with the cash.)
I suppose I'm dreaming, but that's what us entrepeneurs do, ain't it?

Every time I do my taxes or curse at some over-bloated package, I miss the approach Parson's Technology took. It's comes as no surprise that GoDaddy, as a concept, comes from Bob Parsons. I'm just annoyed it took me so long to realize it and move all of my domain names here.
Your achievements reinforce my belief that "Success is 90% Attitude and 10% Aptitude".....as such, it prompts one to take on another approach to ensure that we're surrounded by the same spirit, "Hire for Attitude, Train for Skills."
Bob, I want to use your dad's advice, "if you love something, it tells you all its secrets." Was it original to him? If so, may I have his first name, so I can credit the man?

Dear John,
My dad's first name was Ralph. I don't think it was original with him - although it was from him that I first heard it.
When it comes to those sorts of sayings, I think you'll find that there is very little indeed that is original.
I just read Your story after having an issue with Your tech support and I feel it is just fair to say how much I appreciate Your business and service - in general.
I hope You keep on doing well so many more people have a chance to get their webs up and going.
Here in Centralamerica, where I am based, we see outrages prices for quite lousy webdesign and webservices - many of them represented as "untitled documents" - for example. You may want to search at Google for "Costa Rica untitled document" to see what I mean.
On the other hand, those people who need a hand hardly have a chance. small markets, little knowledge about market opportunities elsewhere ...
Thats why I try to help them and why appreciate Your service, because it economically accessible also for people who try to "start up" - as You did more than one time
Best regards and best wishes - and whenever You come to Costa Rica - please gice me a call; I might want to make a little gift to You:
What would You think about a REAL TREE standing a rain forest reserve in Costa Rica.
Best regards and further good success with Godaddy ...
I have to say that I am very impressed with your company and history. I am a college freshman in virgina and I would like to apply for a internship. I just submitted my resume, please if you have time take a look.

Bob,
I've been meaning to write ever since I got your birthday card on November 9th. What a great salute to our beloved Corps. Now that I know more about you, I'm even more impressed. I started out in personal computers much the same as you did (I just got rid of my Apple ][ a couple years ago), but I chose to stay in the Marine Corps for 27 years, so I wasn't able to make much money off my hobby. It was well worth it though. When I retired I couldn't stay away so I went back to work for the Corps as a civilian employee. In the Corps we firmly believe that we return former Marines to society as better citizens than when they joined. I would certainly say that is true in your case. You provide great service at a fantastic price and richly deserve any financial success you have had. That's what our great country is all about!

Bob,
I really enjoyed some of the comments in your bio. I myself, am a young entreprenuer involved in technology, and also fall into the category of having learned my trade from my hobby.
Wow, it wasn't until just today, that I put 2 and 2 together and realized that you ARE Parson's Technology (we had quite a few of your packages in our home on my dad's old PC's growing up). I love what you've done with GoDaddy. We've had domains with you know for 2+ years and you can't believe the hassle you've taken out of our business! You've become our 1-stop shop for domains, certs and now hosting.
More than anything, I love your above sentiments on business. It is so refreshing! We cherish the same ideals in our business. We are very unique in our model and processes. We develop sites and online software that aims to highly integrate with business and productivity requirements. In the process we have created some technologies that are patent-worthy. Honestly though, it has been somewhat of a struggle at times. Strangely, even though I have some solid sales and marketing in my background, I seem to be missing something. With your success, varied experience and understanding of both software and the web, what gems of knowledge might you offer to an up-and-coming business? We've considered investors, licensing patents, partnering with more complimentary business entities, etc... We just don't want to waste time spinning our wheels with unfruitful ventures.
One thing I find very interesting about doing business this way, is that clients are taken back and almost confused when given options that are honest, less expensive and very upfront and straight forward. I mean, when I tell someone very honestly that they are better off NOT using our services, or not even having a website at all... they sit there in awe... anxious to write me a check, wondering why I don't want their money. I love those moments! Of course, we always end up with several referrals because of our blatant honesty.
It's amazing the honesty and excitement that can be had in a business when you do it because you WANT to! I wish more businesses would be in business ON PURPOSE, WITH PURPOSE!
I am considering of starting a site with godaddy.
The name of the company, shows how smart Bob is!
I am currently in the Navy, and I have a few more years
untill retirement. The polititions have found a way to reduce
my retirement, by offering 30 thousand at my 15 year mark, before taxes. Twenty one thousand is what I got and I paid my bills. Well to make a story short I will get half my base pay and 1% adjusted to inflation per year for retirement.
I gues I got blindsided by sneeky polititions. I have use the navy to purchase two homes. I hope to use a site from

I still use Money Counts 6.5 Extra. I also use Quicken, but Money Counts is still my bible for reports and finance.
I think Money Counts 6.5 is one of the best pieces of software ever written.
Becuase of it and Budgeting I was able to retire at 54 in 1994. In fact I used Money Counts to build a model to see if I could come close to retiring. I used the last years expenses and Income from what I would get in retirement and massaged the data to check it out.
I long wondered what ever happened to the Parsons family
that made such great software.
My only problem is that Money Counts 6.5 was not Y2k compatible. I have to jury rig the actual year. This year; 1986 works.
I always felt that Quicken bought Money Counts to get it off the market. In my case that did not work.

Hi Bob. I have Moneycounts 7.5 business. When I switched to Quickbooks in 1-1-1995, I could not import Moneycounts Business data into quickbooks, thus I had five business years "stranded" on MOneycounts Business. version 7.5. I recently purchased a Moneycounts program from a fellow on eBay so I could finally access those lost five years. Problem is, MoneyCounts (Dos) will not run on XP. At all. Any advice how I might work around this problem and access my trapped information?
I have all the moneycounts files still on my system, just can't read them.

I'm sure you don't remember me, I worked for you back in 94-95, in Hiawatha. I remember you & Martha very well. I also remember you had a son who would work for you from time to time. What ever became of him? And why didn't you include more personal moments, like your wife and kids, in your bio? Just curious.
I mention what my Son is doing these days in the Blog article about outsourcing. Beyond that the rest of the information is as you mention is personal, and for just me to know and cherish. Also it has little to do with the subject matter of this blog.
If you absolutely must access those files, I would suggest you find yourself an old dos box and transfer both the program and data files to it. The bigger problem (after you get the old box) would be how to get the data and the program transferred over to the old computer. Most of them won't have internet connectivity, disks are different, etc. So this approach would be a bit of a challenge for you.
Short of this you might check around with your friends to see if anyone has an older version of windows and internet connectivity and is willing to let you use their computer for a while. To be honest I can't imagine how any of this would be worth the trouble.
Since your talking about data that is prior to 95 you should be well past the statute of limitations. That being the case you might want to forego all the hassle.
I've not had a think to do with MoneyCounts since 1995 when I left Parsons Technology. I know the product was nixed by Intuit so you won't find any help there.
Further to my discovery of your products and services early in May 2004, I must say that I am quite impressed with the quality and advancement godaddy.com has undertaken both on-line as well as through your call center representatives since I have become a member of your company.
I am currently the Vice President of a new company offering corporate and commercial services with respect to federal and provincial regulations governing incorporated companies in Canada.
founded in early May 2004, through a domain registration done on your website, I was referred to godaddy.com over and over by people in the "Internet domain industry", as the best registrar to this day, during my first days of registering on-line TLD domains.
My initial business started off with just one domain registration, and an idea, and has now grown to be my primary concern, i guess you can say it's lifestyle, as you quoted earlier in another conversation posted here, as I too strongly believe in customer satisfaction, as the key to a successful company, and corporate image.
Your company has by far pioneered the way into the future of TLD (Top Level Domain) registrations, simplified process of registration, easy to follow instructions, and the
re assurance from professionals like yourself..
I would like to take this moment to show my gratitude and appreciation as a loyal customer, for the wonderful services you continue to provide for my company everyday, and how you have eased my on-line business and assurance knowing my domains are safe with you, as we know in times like these, it is vital to protect our domains from the wrong hands.
I have currently moved several sites to Go Daddy, and will be moving many more! I've done a lot of research to make it as easy as possible, especially for my exisiting clients to move their hosting. My main concerns were CGI availability, stats and potential password protection. I also wanted a business that had 24-7 technical support and had been around a while. And Go Daddy has fit the bill!
Thank you!
PS. I do have one question/concern that I felt needed to directly to you in regards to domain aliases. Can you please contact me? D Ryan (http://www.thexgrid.net, darcydesigns.com, atcreative.com, etc.) on Mar 1 2005, 11:30am Reply

As a long time GoDaddy 'Executive Account' customer, I would like to praise you on the Superbowl ad. After Janet Jackson's fiasco last year they watered down everything so much, including the Halftime Show, that it made me sad. After all, if everything became "kid friendly" then what would be left for adults to watch??! The Superbowl was meant to be ENTERTAINMENT and your commercial was just that! I praise you greatly for being a little more edgy and certainly fun!! BTW, I also enjoyed your appearance on Bill O'Reilly's "The Factor". I think Bill knows very well that it was not right of Fox to pull your second ad!!!

My Russian wife and I receive three Russian language channels through Dish TV and I was pleasantly surprised to see an encore presentation of your controversial ad on one of their news broadcasts this evening!
Last year was fun, too, since they also covered (or uncovered...) Janet Jackson's "wardrobe malfunction" without any fuzzing out of the video!
Oh, well! Do you think that "they" can legislate the testosterone out of football? That's like taking the caffeine out of coffee, the alcohol out of wine and the fun out of sex!

Thanks for posting your bio, mostly. I had "heard" that you were a Marine and now that I know it; I'm enjoying my GoDaddy relationship even more!

Thanks for taking the time to write your bio. I'm a first time reader and I've already added your blog to my RSS reader. I have one question. In you bio you stated "... knowing how to sell software is quite different from knowing how to build software." Can you elaborate on this statement? Damon Hnery on Jan 20 2005, 10:46am Reply
Hi Damon,
Developing software and selling do require a completely different skill set. Developing it requires technical knowledge, a fine sense of design and detail, plus a knack for knowing how users want to interact with it. Selling (in some ways) also requires these same skills, but it goes beyond that. To sell, you need to know how to reach customers, and give them a good reason to want to purchase your software. To do this, you need to know how to convey your offer in such a way that it stands out from the thousands of offers everybody sees each and every day. You need to be able to convey the deal so that it's understandable, and that prospects want what you're selling. If this isn't enough, you need to be able to afford to pay for advertising until such time as it works. On top of all of this, you've got to be able to take the order and deliver it so that the customer is happy. Then you've got to provide good post-purchase service. It's all quite a challenge.
The blog currently does have support for several versions of RSS feeds for main entries and also has a feed specifically for comments. The links for the feeds are on the right-hand side of each page under the heading "Syndicate This Blog". The following feeds are supported.

I'd never made the connection between "Parsons Techonology" and "GoDaddy" before - I remember your old catalog and software offerings very well. I believe I still even have some of your software around somewhere, but no 5-1/2" drives to run it!
I'm going on my 3rd year anniversary of having my own dedicated server and small hosting business on the side. I refer all of my customers to GoDaddy as well as those I meet that are still paying the $25 to $30 per year to that [name withheld] "OTHER" high priced domain name registrar.
You are truly an inspiration to me as a young entrepreneur. I have enjoyed reading your blog (I only found it this evening) and look forward to many posts to come from you. Each one has taught me a small lesson of some sort.
I am also a customer a Go Daddy and have been on a mission for a few weeks now to consolidate all of my domain names (3 currently with Go Daddy, 3 more to transfer) into my account with Go Daddy. I love the service.
I hope that one day I find a mentor of your caliber to mentor me in the building of my new business. (Attempt number 2 for me)
This is great info! I think you hit on some great things here to help people out. I would really like you to elaborate on this one topic in a sep. blog post though if you would as I think this is something we all need help with!

I appreciate your company's efforts on the Tsunami Relief Effort.
Would it not have been a smart move for your company to have invested 3.4 million in the Tsunami Relief Effort rather than spend it on the 30 sec. Super Bowl Ad?
I feel that would have been remembered by your customers and discussed alot too. Thus the mileage from that could be very beneficial to the company not to count the help it would have given the victims.
I suppose all commitments were made to the Super Bowl Ad before the Tsunami happen which explains the decisons being made. Anyway it comes to mind when reading the blog. Ralph Howard (http://www.realestate2020.com) on Jan 6 2005, 09:18pm Reply
GoDaddy has already donated a very large sum to the relief of the tsunami victims, for which they should be applauded. However, as you say, that is only known by their customers, and the folks who read this blog. It is not known by the wider world.
That is the same issue which GoDaddy is clearly trying to address with their Super Bowl ad. Advertising is not directed at current customers - they know who you are and you already have a relationship with them (essentially, don't preach to the choir). Advertising is directed at those who do not yet know you exist, to make them aware of your products and services. Too many people assume that advertising is a waste or an annoyance. It is, to you, if the message is for a product or service you don't want or need. But that quickly changes if it is something you do need.
I think the Super Bowl Ad is an excellent kickoff to a long-term ad campaign, and should do a great deal to make GoDaddy known to many more potential customers. If those folks become customers, that will benefit them, since GoDaddy offers excellent products. It will also benefit existing customers, as the increased revenue stream will clearly be used to improve offerings and assure the longevity of the company.
Please don't discount the value of advertising, it is essential to the successful functioning of commerce, from which we all benefit. It may be annoying on occasion, but without it, our commerce-based economy would quickly grind to a halt. Then, who would provide relief to the victims of future natural disasters?
Personally, I am looking forward to the GoDaddy Super Bowl ad. Smart move!!! Barbara Nachtigall on Jan 14 2005, 09:04am Reply

Bob,
Welcome to the world of blogging. Several years back you sent an email and I wrote back. You replied personally to me. I appreciate your approach. I'll keep doing business. I like people without hidden agendas, and who can debate postitions. Good for you don't give in to the politically correctness that renders us devoid of ideas.
I must say, however, that you posted a whole bunch on Christmas. Did you spend sufficient time with the family?
On a technical note, is there an rss feed on your blog so we can follow it more easily? Thanks.
I like your company and the services to a degree. I used to work in tech support when you owned Parson's in Cedar Rapids, IA back in 1995 right before the intuit thing. Well I have had one major problem after another, with your new GoDaddy.com, company. As a business owner I would like it if even a disgruntled customer would be honest with me on what they really thought about my products or services, because for everyone who speaks out there are dozens of others who will end up using your service once, and find another service the next time and you never know why.
This information would possibly help me from losing other customers in the future. The three cardinal sins that seem to stand out most in my dealing with your company are as follows:
(1.) Sometime back in February of 2004 one of your domain servers had a problem and even though I was paid current for web hosting with GoDaddy.com, I could not access nor could others access my website for approximately 2.5 weeks. And after hours of being on hold on my nickel to your toll numbers and re-explaining myself over and over again the problem was somehow fixed, but I never received and adjustment for this. If I had a customer who had a major problem with there commercial website I would do something to make it right. I thought, well I worked for you in the past so your company would do the right thing. But they never did the right things, your CS reps passed the buck from one person to another and offered to send me some survey but no other remedies. It appeared as they did not even have a concern for my 2.5 week loss of business and promotional potential. I t could not have happened at a worst time since over 20 people were judging new products and our product was in the running for a national design award during this time in February.
(2.) First I had my account setup to pay by check and I thought that it was one-time billed , but that was not the case. I had moved an left very little money in that account while I decided if I was going to keep it open and did not uses it for 2.5 months. Then when I finally looked at the statement your GoDaddy check processing service had tried to bill my account at lest nine time and my bank charged me $235.00 in NSF Fees for a $9.00 a month bill. Like you said in your blog bio I am also a small business entrepreneur and have been on the wrong end of things since 9/11 , and I did not have this money to lose to a bank at that time. This one really hurt but it seams that nothing could be done about it and my bank refused to credit back to me these NSF charges they made a windfall off of your billing policies.
(3.) The final thing happened today 12/28/04 while trying to pay my yearly .com renewal I tried to use paypal.com and it wouldn't let me use it to pay you even though I had deposited funds in my paypal.com account since I did not have a credit card associated with this account. SO what is the sense of taking paypal if you need a credit card anyway. I had every intention of renewing with you but do not have way to do it, since with what happened with the NSF and you guys billing me I cant use a check, I don't have a credit card, and I have a paypal account with money in it and no way for your company to accept it since I do not have a credit card in the first place. I hope you reconsider your paypal policies in the future, just like the guy from Canada and what he thought about paypal. Why cant you set it up to allow 1 time annual renewals of domains?? So I am wondering what I can do to pay you since I cant electronically online.
Like I said all these things really have happened and I want to give your company the benefit of the doubt, but wh4en you make it next to impossible to collect money from a customer that has the funds to pay but you wont accept them? What is a guy to do??

Bob,
Thanks for the Bio. I was quite familiar with the Parsons Technology line of products and was sad to hear that the company was sold to Intuit. But later down the line when I heard about GoDaddy, I was quite happy to learn that you're the owner.
I'm even happier to support an Arizona-based company (I'm in Tucson) despite some rivalries in sports between us . Besides which, from your product line at Parsons and the way you've run GoDaddy so far, it has become quite apparent that you are a reputable business man and I'll always be happy to be a customer of yours.
Thank you for your honesty (too many people are scared of saying something that isn't "PC") and keep up the good work!
Bob, I was delighted to see that Go Daddy had a blog... but, you are not really blogging. You're just talking, which, in and of itself, is nice. Blogging is more than writing down your thoughts and inviting comments. It's linking...and offering an email, and it's supporting others who blog. As you are just getting started, I expect you will begin to do all of these things and you will find the 'voice' that works for you. You are a leader...and always have been...in chancing this 'blog' thing. May I ask if you would consent to an interview on my blog, http://windsormedia.blogs.com? I post a Smart Man Online or a Smart Woman Online interview every Thursday, and you qualifty for that, hands down! I think my readers, men and women alike, would be interested in hearing from you. Thanks for joing the blogosphere! Go Daddy rocks! Yvonne DiVita (http://windsormedia.blogs.com) on Dec 24 2004, 12:42pm Reply
Mr. Parsons,
Merry Christmas from a non-Christian.
I applaud you for being the kind of American that made this country top of the political heap.
Being afraid of what others think of your personal views, IS unAmerican.
Any one who knows me, knows I am layed-back, calm, collected and soft spoken, except when I talk about women's and children's rights, religion or the Earth's health.
Needless to say my freinds try to stay away from those topics. They well know where I stand.
I've never lost a freind or aquaintance because of this. I am occasionally persuaded to change my mind, but because I am outspoken about my beliefs, I sometimes change other people's way of thinking. I earn trust.
GoDaddy has NEVER treated me with disrespect. That is why I LIKE them.
Mr. Parson's BIO explains to me WHY this company is favored by so many. Up front honesty.
It pleases me that I chose the best on the Internet!
THANK YOU!
Take Care,

Bob,
I've followed your carreer fairly closely since the 1980's as I continue to spend money in your enterprises. I still remember how thrilled I was to discover Money Counts and followed it through all the version upgrades until you sold it to Intuit. I also owned Quick Verse (whatever happenned to that?). One of the reasons that I reccomended the products to so many people was the great tech support that you (often personally) offerred.
When I was shopping for an alternative to NS for domain registration, I came across GoDaddy. As I read through the site, I was almost convinced. The final drop of water that tipped the balance was when I found the page that identified you as the owner. Based on my prior experience with Parsons Technology, I hoped that your business philosopy had not changed. I'm glad to see that your integrity and honesty continue to come through.
And, oh yeah, I grew up in Baltimore too. Sally on Dec 24 2004, 10:25am Reply
Thanks for the info. Bought lots of Parsons Tech stuff over the years. Expressing your politics doesn't bother me. People have died for that right.
We are a veery small manufacturing company and don't have a lot of data processing depth. We need a company that we can trust to take care of our DP needs. We are easing into Go Daddy slowly. We did transfer all of our domain name registrations to Go Daddy. We still have our web site on Corecomm and McLeod as our ISP. We hate spending time on activities that don't directly relate to the products we produce and Go Daddy seems to be positioned to accommodate us.
If Go Daddy could get us our basic domain it would put us over the edge. We are trying to get the deltahawk.com domain.
Frankly, I find it refreshing to find someone that is not afraid of expressing their views. I bet I will not always agree with everything but thats good. The fact that you are the president of a company and your not afraid... well that will keep my business for a long time.

Good morning Bob on this beautiful but very cold Christmas eve. We wish you and yours and all others A Very Happy Holidays and A Plentiful New Year.
In regards to the politcal statements or personal views in your blog I have to agree with others that it may be something that could bite you in the long run. My political position doesn't align completely with yours but in my case this won't cause me to change service for the domains I have registered. My greatest fear for you by stating your political position may cost you business. I'm not talking about your commentary on the Marines or the embedded news people (who are seeking personal visability), I am in total agreement with you there as a Viet Nam era vet.
I remember Parsons Technology very well as I still am running several of the programs that I purchased for my old Win95 machines. I remember when you first released the "Announcements Deluxe". I was having a difficult time with the installation and actually talked with you on the phone for technical help. I still run this program and some others on a Win98SE machine. Posting here on your blog is like talking to an old friend. Keep up the good work and the blog. Dick Jones (http://www.scirn.net/) on Dec 24 2004, 07:54am Reply
Thanks for the biography and the blog, Bob. It's always good to see the human face behind the corporation. So far I've been very pleased with Go Daddy's service and I'm looking forward to many years as a satisfied customer. Gardner Campbell (http://gardnercampbell.com) on Dec 24 2004, 05:58am Reply
I tend to agree with B@@ about keeping political commentary close and private to you. Some things do need to be said, but many things need not be shared with clients or strangers.
I do enjoy my account with Go Daddy, so let us speak of things pertinent to this company.
Thank you for the wonderful service that I have received.
P.S. B@@, if you are going to speak of "positioning" as something negative, it might be wise to avoid it yourself; but maybe, as a guest to the BLOG, truthfully, a client; and not the author, in fact, the owner of the company, you do not feel the necessity of undisclosed political opinions,
I am not saying that I disagree with anyone, except on the behaviors and ideas that I, as an individual, deem contradictory.
First of all, i like godaddy. I recently transferred my domains to here.
Weblog: are you not worried that if you position yourself too much on the right or the left that you will loose customers? e.g. customers who have domains at godaddy which are of political nature etc...?
E-mail: in the e-mail it says (proudly?) "we do not outsource or offshore" ... maybe you could write a weblog post about why you think that is good?? As far as i can see it, outsourcing is in the current IT world a pluspoint for customers since it make IT products cheaper. I think many of the largest IT companies currently have outsourcing as a standard "checkmark" in almost 100% of their contracts: either the customer puts "yes" or "no", just like "green energy" (uh... i dont know if you have green energy in the states), the customer will never know the difference but somewhere in the backoffice a different process is being used.
So i very much would like to know why you regard "we dont outsource" as pluspoint??? From my point of view it's like "we dont use backups" or "we only use 14.4kb modems" ? B@@ (http://www.de-leau.com) on Dec 24 2004, 03:29am Reply
I have some domains with Go Daddy which were pushed from other accounts and love the service but I only have one problem. Go Daddy does not have great service for us Canadians. I like the fact you can use Paypal if you do not have a credit card but when you try to pay with Paypal with Go Daddy it makes you enter a credit card number is VISA/MC debit card, which does not exist in Canada. Basically there are no ways to purchase domains and services if you are a Canadian without a credit card. Please consider this and have a merry christmas. Sean McCann (http://www.seanmccann.ca) on Dec 23 2004, 11:45pm Reply
Sean,
At this time, PayPal requires that a credit card be put on file in order to enter into a billing agreement with a third party. This is currently the way PayPal has decided to implement their system. We have passed on your thoughts to PayPal to see if there could possibly be another solution implemented to meet your needs. GoDaddy as a company will also look into possibly creating another solution for people in the same situation as you. Thank you for taking the time to voice your concerns.
I hear you, Bob. I agree about GW's look most of the time. With what he has to deal with going on around this planet, I'm not surprised. As to Kerry, I have followed his career from the days when he ratted out the troops through many of his votes in the Senate.

Our church purchased the program and have been using it successfully. However our computer has failed and we are unable to use it any more.

Parsons, have u read lee iaccocca;s biography? It has some excellent views on management and also a wonderful breakdown on what is wrong with this country in general. I dont know whether you feel the same way. The more and more i talk to elder people, the more i conclude that if you truly enjoy your work, you shouldn't retire. Do start a thread about that when you do get sometime. It would be interesting to hear peoples thoughts, and yours of course included.

If we did that, we'd be de-credited in a finger snap, and then our .US customers would be dealing with another registrar. Consequences are just too big, and we'd accomplish nothing.
Nice idea though.

My two cents,

Thanks, Bob

Sorry I don't have better news for you.

Trusting that godaddy is real to it's deal.

Thanks for the post,
Bob

Your personal comments are very refreshing, Bob. Thank you for allowing us to see who you are and where you have been. I treasured my relationship with your software company, and I look forward to a renewed relationship through GoDaddy.

Keep up the good work.

(Attempt number 2 for me)
Thanks Again!

This is great info! I think you hit on some great things here to help people out. I would really like you to elaborate on this one topic in a sep. blog post though if you would as I think this is something we all need help with!
"But the third try was the charm and I finally learned how to sell software knowing how to sell software is quite different from knowing how to build software."

I still have the TRSDOS manual. Page #3 was a schematic of disk drive! Things were different then...
GoDaddy.com has been very good to me. My first website, GreyhoundPictures.com has benefited from your excellent services. It's always a pleasure working with GoDaddy people.

Thanks for sharing your bio. As a new customer I appreciate to get to know the person behind the company. No offense taken for knowing your political position. We believe in democracy which means respecting other people's views even if we don't share them, am I right?. I am a German national (living in Washington - and I lived in Manhattan on Sep 11, 2001). And yes, my views are a bit different. But I am glad that not everybody agrees with me - it is the diversity of positions that keeps us apart from fanatism and totalitarian ideologies.

I guess I will have to figure a way out to get you and Lee on the phone! Put the name to the domain! Barbara (I think was her name) said that you would like that! I see you both were 'in country' at the same time. Tell her I still need to know where to send that 'Care Package' I said I wanted to send you 2!
She has my info. I'll get you 2 hooked up somehow!

Thanks.

Thanks for the Bio. I was quite familiar with the Parsons Technology line of products and was sad to hear that the company was sold to Intuit. But later down the line when I heard about GoDaddy, I was quite happy to learn that you're the owner.
I'm even happier to support an Arizona-based company (I'm in Tucson) despite some rivalries in sports between us
Thank you for your honesty (too many people are scared of saying something that isn't "PC") and keep up the good work!

THANK YOU!

Keep it up. I like speaking to Americans on the phone.

Cheers~

At this time, PayPal requires that a credit card be put on file in order to enter into a billing agreement with a third party. This is currently the way PayPal has decided to implement their system. We have passed on your thoughts to PayPal to see if there could possibly be another solution implemented to meet your needs. GoDaddy as a company will also look into possibly creating another solution for people in the same situation as you. Thank you for taking the time to voice your concerns.
