Thanks for the tribute and thanks for your service. As a founding member of the Mesa Veterans Parade Association, we would be honored to have your involvement in the 2010 Veterans Day Parade (and beyond). We already have plenty of older vets with attitude on board, but could sure use one with some excellent business sense and connections around town.

Thanks for the other vblogs too, you make it very personable and fun to watch and learn! I'm going to view the rest of them and absorb as much of the Dr. Bob vibe as I can for my own sites. Like is too short to be ordinary :)

Once a Marine always a Marine. I still stand at attention when the Flag is Raised or lowered be it a School, Fire station or even my Parents house when I visit. I still get a lump in my throat when I hear the Hymn. I will always thank a Veteran for his service and say Semper Fi to any Marine I see in my travels.

The Corps for me is Family. They are my brothers and sisters regardless of when we served because we all were born on those Yellow foot prints raised by surrogate parents called DI's fed on stories of heroism, honor and patriotism. Sweated, Bled, Cried and laughed (when Mom and Dad weren't looking) cheered on our brothers as we learned that we are all one unit. When we crossed that Parade Deck we were Marines till the day we fall in for final inspection.

I met a Marine (Viet Nam Vet) who gave me a Business card it's an old one but says it all.

Hi Bob...

I was at Go Daddy today to attempt getting one of HWH's domains back - its at auction, was taken late 2007 and the buyer just wouldn't sale it back so I'm at the auction.

Anyhow, I decided to check out your blog, totally enjoyed the Episode #31 thanks - I ve been working on a veteran housing project that just keeps getting sidelined. Everyone wants the agency to be submissive in order to get governmental funding but that would actually lessen our ability to provide real solutions.

Our formerly homeless veterans that make up the organization are proof it works but for some strange reason - it appears the organization has been blackballed.

It may be the cause (at least thats what one congressional office said to our Board of Directors ).

Questions:
1) How does one get black balled?
2) Can you overcome being blackballed?
3) Why is a good agency, that actually provides services and have successes get black balled?

Another issue we have is although the agency has no boundaries... powers that be go out of the way to advise others throughout the US to blackball us too.

Bob, whats really baffling is that for every high position person that tries to oppress , steal, duplicate or dismantle the organization; we continue on like the energizer bunny.

If you would kindly answer my three questions - I'd be appreciative, unfortunately I can't promise I won't ask more.

Merry Christmas!

Iraq conflict showed US and UK troops not always displaying the discipline that they needed to in order to set an example to the world as a force for good, and a bonefide keeper of law and order. Poor discipline gives moral ammunition to the lawless and terrorist recruitment agencies of the world - one of the greatest threated of the moden day.

When I was 5 they wanted to put me in a brace for my swayed back. When I was 8 and watching WW-2 movies they said I could never be a Marine.

But I knew in my soul there was no other, no better place to be than in the Marines.

At 17 I had a high school state record for running the mile. Syracuse Univ wanted me and I knew I could be an olympic class runner. At 18 I tore a ligament in my hip and could never run like that again. I never told the Marines, and I never missed a step.

Because nothing mattered more then or now than being a part of the proud heritage that is the United States Marine Corps.

Hey Bob,

Respectfully, Australian toops have fought on your side (US & Allies) in many of those battles. Australians are generally grateful for having such a powerful ally as the US, but more importantly that we have an ally that has similar Christian based values as us. Even today, the elite Australian SAS
are fighting Afghanistan insurgents (Taliban) with the US troops. Our two nations believe it is important to free those from tyranny. On the Perth, Western Australia RSL (Returned Services League) memorial wall, is inscribed in stone, 'FREEDOM belongs to those who are prepared to defend it'. Thank you US Marines and other services for fighting with us for our Freedom and for the Freedom of others! May God continue rica and Australia and helps us to defend therecious gift of Freedom!

Bob,
I just watched Mr. Internet show your Rules for Success. Thank you. I've had some really tough business experiences lately, from losing my brand new office building and business to eminent domain, to losing my current position because another person is taking over from outside the company. I lost my mom, my office building and a national franchise (from the eminent domain) all in the same year. It hasn't gotten much better in the three years since.

I still don't know what I want to be when I grow up and I turned 45 this year! I've been in my current career for over 20 years. I loved it up until the market tanked and I lost my skivies to the wonderful highway department.

Since I don't know what I want to do I continue to look for a new venue. Your Rules were just what I needed to see at this time in my life.

Oh, BTW, thanks for your military service to my family and our country. My son is currently Active Guard Reserve and served four years in the Air Force and served in Saudi during the last Iraq Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Thank you for the wonderful birthday tribute. Although I'm seeing it for the first time today (12th), the message still motivates the hell outta me! When I joined in Jan 1985, I didn't know what I was getting into. Now, third only to Wife and Mother, it has become my identity. I've never regretted my decision to join. I've seen/witnessed things most people should never see/witness, but I've never stood prouder or poked out my chest further than when recognized as a Marine. I've worked hard the past 24 years to earn that title and have challenged myself everyday not to let down those who served before me. I only hope I have succeeded.

Thank you for that wonderful tribute and thank you for your service!

My biggest problem is when they come back..that is where our govn't fails them in a huge way...I wish I good do something about that. Dear Sgt Lewis:

Bob Parsons served this great country with great honor as a rifleman in the USMC. So certainly you can understand that he has has very special and strong feelings towards the USMC. So several years he ago he started developing an annual tribute to his (and others') beloved Corps. Although he doesn't do a Veterans Day video, he has the greatest respect and admiration for all branches of the Armed Services.

Sincerely,

Thanks for the Tribute to the Marines, very well done. I spent 38 years in The Corps, retired in Jan 1998 as a CWO-5. I did not want to retire but was topped out for promotion. I had a great career and miss it. So Thanks again we could have used this after Vietnam.

Mr. Bob Parson,
I just want to congratulate you on the best Domain and Hosting providing company to set a trend in this great country we call America. I also want to say Happy Marine Corp Birthday to my family, friends, you, and those that died, served, and currently serving.

I just got out the Navy of 5 years (July 2004 - July 2009) onboard USS Shoup (DDG-86) out of Everett, WA. As the theme of the Marine Corp to be the few and proud; well I was a part of the few and the proud ships to be honored and named after a Marine. [http://www.shoup.navy.mil/default.aspx, http://www.navysite.de/dd/ddg86.htm, & http://www.arlingtoncemetery.net/shoup.htm ]Also our new ship named after the fallen Jason Dunham (http://www.jason-dunham.navy.mil/default.aspx). As a Sailor, Airman, Soldier, Coastguard, and especially a Marine, we all know thousands sacrifice their lives.

Happy 243th Marines, Semper Fi! The tradition of the Navy and Marine Corp will live on.....

When I say to people I know "today is the Marine Corps Birthday", they say "who cares, you were in what 35 or more years ago" I say I remember it like yesterday and once a Marine, Always a Marine, but they don't get it so I am happy to see that you do and are not afraid you might "offend" someone in this "politically correct" world we live in.

We do historical reenacting and he has a WWII Marine uniform and is working on getting ones for other time periods too! Which just goes to show you that you can take the Marine out of the uniform but not for long-LOL!!

Thanks for posting this celebration of the US Marine Corps on its 234th birthday—older than the nation itself! One small quibble: In the roster of engagements, no mention is made of the Marines who served 1945-1949 in China. My father was there and also in Korea in 1953-54.

Very well done!
I am Canadian but I can certainly appreciate the personal sacrifices and incredible service that every soldier makes (and has made) to preserve democracy and our freedom.
A poll conducted a few years ago revealed that over 50% of Canadians 18 - 25 years old did not know who Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae was...and were not familiar with McCrae's famous war memorial poem IN FLANDERS FIELDS.
I found this apalling (and quite frankly, embarrassing). It seemed indicative of the apathy our younger generation has towards those who have made (and those who continue to make) the ultimate sacrifice on our behalf.

Thank you...to all those men and women who have served and continue to serve on our behalf.
We will remember.
God Bless them all.

The branch of service does not matter, the American spirit of the fighting man does matter. It is that spirit that has given Americans their Freedom.
