Hey Bob!
I enjoy your videos a lot...
They are very informative.
I was wondering If you could recommend any sources that helped you a lot when you we're starting your first business and/or website.
Any good books or websites on the matter that you can recommend?
Also, did you experience failure a lot before your businesses and websites took off? I would love to hear about it... (forgive me If you mention this in one of your episodes, I'm still in the process of watching them all.)

Bob,
I have been a satisfied godaddy.com customer for some years now and have even informed the company I work for about your wonderful service and because your excellent prices and awesome service they have switched or are switching all their domain name registrations to your company.
I also want to say that one of my co-workers fell victim to the networksolutions.com front running issue. However, I'm pleased to state that recently those domain names became available and were all registered with godaddy.com and she was even going to move her current domain names that are on networksolutions.com to godaddy because of this unfair, predatory tactic of theirs.
I am glad that have a down to earth attitude, from what I can tell, and yet still reach for the stars. Thanks and keep up the great work!! Cory G on Apr 9 2008, 09:35pm Reply

I have, more than once, experienced domain names I search on at Godaddy.com show up taken very shortly after..
Someone in your company is checking a database because it is too much of a coincidence for this many domain names to quickly be taken after a search for availability is executed.
I no longer do searches to prepare my domain purchases for which I have many..
This is in my opinion thievery of another's ideas.
Hope you print this remark and reply.. However, I hope more for the discontinuance of such practices.
It is a suggestion you check into who has access to the domain search databases run daily, weekly and monthly.
We are ever vigilant to make sure that that sort of thing doesn't happen here.
What I believe happened to you is that the domains you searched for were similar to the millions being tasted and kited. That made it seem like someone here was up to no good however I assure you that is certainly not the case.
I always love to read comments when a businessman in your position has a pretty relaxed, confident attitude towards communication.
I wonder why so some people have such an urge to find ways to rip your personality and blog apart because of minor issues they have with the content and discussion material. Given that I'm from Canada and it's a different political climate here, I find it very amusing that people take great offence to prostitution and demeaning women, from the country that has Britney Spears on the cover of every magazine. If people actually lived their private lives like they claim in public, maybe their utopian dream will come true...
All the same, I think your blog is great and I like the discussion material, even if it does push the envelope for some. If they don't like it - there is always a Home or Back button. Your company has great customer service and I'm happy with the service and pricing. I'll continue to renew with you - the price is competitive and the fair business attitude I always see is what keeps me coming back. Carl S. on Apr 9 2008, 09:03am Reply

I have to admire Bob for speaking out with complete honesty. That's not easy to do. Also I believe Dotster is also involved in FrontRunning that they register names when people type them in. I already know several people with the experience of typing in a name but having it registered a few minutes later. I always check with Dotster because it's easier to check many domain names at the same time. I hope Godaddy can do this as well. Also, the prices for Godaddy, I hope they lower prices by around 10-15%. craig on Apr 8 2008, 03:19am Reply

But kudos on the front-running stand nice to see we still can count on modicums of honor now and then too.
Your support guys have been great to work with though!! Some of the best. I actually live down the street from the Raintree office and have some wonderful chats with the guys! Please do not ship your support overseas or do anything stupid like that. Thats the way you will sustain the business. I have been a Go Daddy customer for about 9 months and I have not thought once I wish I went with another company. So I like thank you Bob for having a great company. My Aunt and Uncle needed to get a new website for Northern Michigan Dragway and right away I knew where to go for hosting and domain registration. By having Northern Michigan Dragway as a customer of Go Daddy it will be saving them like $500 - $750 over the next 10 years. The company they used to go through was a good company but if they ever need customer service that had to call between 9-5 on a week day so it is nice to be with a company if we ever needed help with anything that you guys are there to help 24/7. Dear Jake,
I appreciate your recommendation but I have to tell that in my mind it will be impossible to replace our original Go Daddy Girl, Candice Michelle.
Also I don't think NetSol has been engaged in front running for years. I think it started after they were acquired by a venture capital firm called General Atlantic. My guess is it may have been triggered by pressure to increase their profits. Whatever the cause, the decision for any registrar to engage in such a practice is short sighted and ill advised.
Bob,
I think you made a good choice by not adding the 'Spitzer girl'. In my opinion, she doesn't have any REAL talent like the other Go Daddy Girls have. Others may disagree with me on that. ,-)
Loved the video bob. I have bought dozens of domain names from go daddy over the years. I have also purchased several hosting plans. Great video blog. One thing I may suggest is that you have someone write down the contents of your blog in text and post it below the video. This will let people who don't have speakers (Which is many people in corporate America) still know the content of your blog. It will also let the search bots find the data. Your blog is simply too good to have it lost because people can't hear or find it.
I love godaddy, and one main reason I use and recommend you is because of the ethics of your company. You would never do the sort of just that netsol does. You offer great fair prices and great service. (I do have to say that some of the recent upgrades made working with domains harder though) I knew about this practice of domain front running but it is shocking that netsol, who says they are the best, practices it. Thanks for pointing it out.

Didn't one of your people first complain about what has since been labeled "domain front running" at an ICANN meeting in Marrakech, Morocco years ago? I could post a link if you need a refresher.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the idea behind front running that a 3rd party, apart from the end user and the registrar, is "spying" on the user's search queries? At least that seems to be what ICANN's and Nominet's respective reports on the subject seem to suggest, unless I understood it wrong.
Then again, I guess we still have yet to generally agree what constitutes "domain name front running", although lots of people believe front running happens only with registrars. That's one reason why I'm probably confused why Network Solutions is accused of front running, even though their definition seems closer to ICANN's and Nominet's.
Oh well, people disagree anyway.
On the side, I can't help but find your blog entertaining. I will no doubt link or refer to it in my blog sometime in the future.

Thank you for having people like that in your customer service department and she should be EMULATED by all. The Internet would be a much better experience for everyone if all customer service people were as good as the qualities and knowledge she shared with me today.
Does that include Google and Sedo when it comes to Adsense and other Pay Per click down streamers.
Google will give all the info you want and need if you buy ads "Adwords" tools, help, Stats and on and on. It seems with "Adsense" where they have to pay us they just say "TRUST US" take what we say or report or leave it. Sedo seems to do the same with there Park and Click program, one day its .40 the next is .02 I know the down stream providers have a bid and say in that but its not reported or shown. Google has positioned its self as the "Good Guy" that we have to use...But they are really just the "Big Guy"..Bob, as I know you never will? don't eGoDaddy GoDaddy become just the "Big Guy".
As they say, Google is making a lot of money and it seems they have a system to keep it.
I have never used NetSol nor see the need to and what they are doing is out there for everyone to see. I just wish the others (like you do) expose them, would expose just how Google operates and how perhaps if you are an adworks customer your "Natural Search" for that URL gets bumped down with some software or program crawl or whatever while Yahoo and others (that don't use Google's search) is showing you on the front page.
Just some thoughts, that might apply for us little guys that have a few small guys that have 30 or 40 sites and a a hundered or so domains that mightGoDaddye the heart and "sole" of GoDaddy business. Yoe Moee (http://www.Deltalina.com) on Apr 3 2008, 12:47pm Reply

Thanks for the update. That explains why a few obscure domain names I was looking for on NS wound up taken shortly thereafter when I went to register them with GoDaddy. Any good books or websites on the matter that you can recommend?
Also, did you experience failure a lot before your businesses and websites took off? I would love to hear about it... (forgive me If you mention this in one of your episodes, I'm still in the process of watching them all.)

Thanks for showing some needed class on the Spitzer Issue. Not everyone thinks it was funny or even appropriate to consider. I have had a hard time swallowing the focus on the commercials too. Honestly offensive especially to women.
I don't have to tell you that it is 7 times more expensive to get a sale out of a new customer than one that has been on board.

Keep up the blog work. If anything, it'll be anything but boring.

How about having the rest of the Godaddy Staff on this TV show next time. Maybe ya'all could do a nudist podcast sometime? (Don't forget to show Bob from the neck UP though) LOL!

One last comment. Although Bob may in actuality never considered Kristen as a Go Daddy girl, the fact that many people thought he would just indicates the reputation he has.
