I have only one regret and that is it took me sooo long to get here. I am looking forward to getting my site here and look forward to the help you give us. Bob your da goods and keep at it. My question is what shows do you go to and what current books are you looking at. P.S. Are you going to do a book with some case history. I plan on getting your poster for my son's Junior High business club

Dear Paul,

A great book to read is George Friedman's The Next 100 Years.

I hardly go to shows but during the rare times when I do I am glad I'm there.

I'm in the middle of writing my first book. Hopefully it will be out in a year.

Appreciate your kind words,

Bob

Bob:

Just viewed your July 4th video. Michelle Malkin featured it and GoDaddy on her blog.

To say it hit home is an understatement of grand proportions. My head and heart filled with memories of my friends who were lost in Vietnam and never had the chance to enjoy what they helped keep free.

Now, however, I can't help but think that much of their, and our fathers', sacrifices are becoming just so much dust in the wind. WWII vets I know have wept openly wondering if all they did is now for naught.

However, thanks again, for the video. We sent it to all we know who will appreciate it for what it is...heartwarming.

Dear Charles,

I sometimes feel that way myself, but I think we can expect the USA to be great for sometime to come and the sacrifices you, myself and all of our brothers and sisters have made will always count for something.

If you get a chance, pick up a copy of George Friedman's book "The Next 100 Years." I promise it will change the way you feel about the USA and where it's heading. After I read it I beamed with pride and I needed to feel that way.

It's an easy read. You will be happy you took the time.

Your brother in arms, always,

Bob

Dr. Bob,

Smart advice. I still remember Parson Technology and bought a few titles, I still have a couple of the old disk and manuals somewhere in the computer room. You had a software catalog that came in the mail every so often, which was something your competitors weren't doing at the time. Your strides to be different from the rest in the tech industry started long before the Internet and the rise of the Dot Coms and it all has come together with Godaddy.

Have great and safe 4th,

How much do you think a "catchy" domain name has to do with a successful online biz?
#10 Thomas on Jul 3 2009, 22:01 Reply
Dear Thomas,

It might not help it much (depending on how the business is otherwise promoted) but it sure won't hurt.

Overall if a business is being reasonably promoted an easy to remember (and to spell) domain name is a definite plus.

I just created a Twitter account for my company, and I am confused on how to get others to follow me. I assume that followers would most likely turn into customers, if they like my product. Twitter appears like a great tool to capture my thoughts and actions as my new venture grows! If Go Daddy had Twitter when it was created, would you be able to use it to help your company grow? If so, how?

My new iPhone service is called TAPP. If you TAPP a person or business, you’ll get their phone number, email, links to website, and even connect to their social networks like Facebook/Twitter/MySpace. TAPP is an easy to remember phone number (users create TAPP Phrases) that does much more. It even works online at www.justTAPP.com

If Twitter can help TAPP explode virally, I’m all ears!

Thanks Bob

Best Video Blog entry yet! Finding your "edge" is all about finding why customers should open their wallets for what you're offering.

And business owners should be honest about their edge. I've heard many folks say "We're the best at XYZ," when there's nothing to support this claim.

They should do the research and listen to what customers are saying. Maybe the edge needs "sharpening."

Bob,

What is the reason for GoDaddy not having a toll free number even for pre-sales questions? Is it because most of its potential customers are likely to be on a "nation-wide-calling-plan"? Or because you are only interested in doing business with people who are willing to pay an ante to indicate their seriousness in doing business (but if so, why isn't customer service toll free)? Or is it just a cost cutting feature (but if so, aren't you likely to be losing potential customers)? But I really do not want to speculate, and would like to know you reasons for not having a toll free number for per-sales and customer support.

—HotForThisWorld
#25 HotForThisWorld (http://www.hotforthisworld.com) on Jul 3 2009, 08:54 Reply
Dear HotForThisWorld,

I've learned over the years that a toll free number is a waste of money, and literally makes no difference in the business one transacts. The reasons are many. First the cost of the calls — if the caller pays for them which is not often the case — is minimal. Second most people either have unlimited National long distance calling or call from their employers. In either case it costs them nothing. Fourth, my studies have confirmed that folks will NOT hesitate making a call because it is NOT to a toll free number.

So NOT only will I NOT have one, but my recommendation to other businesses is that if you want to save some money without a negative impact on your business and you have a toll free number — drop it.

Dear David,

Your edge would be any advantage you have that is unique to you. It could be something you develop (like better service, prices, or relationships, or skills), or something that you just have (like special talents like reading people etc.).

The big point here is if you don't know what your edge is, then you will be more successful if you think about it and develop one.

I have seen the commercials, making a sex symbol out of Danika Patrick... instead of being the fierce competitor for which that trait is shared.

She is a woman, she is beautiful and she has sex appeal. So where does the racing and groundbreaking appeal that you both share enter in to the equation.

I dig Danika Patrick, I have mixed feelings about what her agent recommended she agree agree to sponsor. I can only hope she didn't realize what she was agreeing to forfeit in respect.

I especially shudder at the opportunity you had with her, she is ground breaking. For the final ultimate degree of the spooky truth, you played someone saying, "the women with the breasts,' and most people didn't really know your services.

Why don't you start trying selling RV's to people in the city living in apartments. Just put her in an RV and have her towel off while walking to her 10th floor apartment.

To whom are you marketing, not the people who make websites, we are not swayed by breasts. Those are available for free on the Internet already.

Wrong approach, wrong audience, waste of Danika Patrick. A much simple answer improves business with the assets, including Ms. Patrick are at your fingertips.

1-Total persons approached or asked
2-Over what period of time
3-Ethnic break down
4-Gender break down
5-Who picked the persons

It appears that certain gender and ethnic groups could of been set up or picked out to skew the results.

Bob, Semper Fi, I have a get suggestion for you for a video for guys that think like this Mr Poker. It will really make them see what they sound like.
Your company is based in empowerment men and woman. Plus your main market girl is a women that is so empowered she does not need your help to empower her profession and attitude does. She does it on her own and would probably laugh at this guy for thinking these girls can't and don't empower them selves. I bet everyone of them have there own websites from godaddy or are in the process. This Mr Poker needs to learn by defending pretty girls and amusing the are weak make you weak. I bet these kinds of girls have you bending over backward for them and blowing your money on dinners and drinks try to Mr. Poke. Because you would love to take advantage of them using the let me help you. When really what is happening is they are so empowered they prey on the ignorance of a guy out to be mister nice guy because he wants something in the long run, trust me she knows. From jump street she is smart in many areas but clowns that look at them as needing help. they are really about to get a lesson of how pretty women don't need you, me, or BOB. They can take you, show you they are empowered can make you eat out of there hand and drain your account trying to impress at the same time there bank account stay swollen and keeps on going. I know one thing Bob seems like me. Maybe just show the respect and respect the fact they don't need us but sometime we really need them (for real). But never under estimate or try to play nice guy because you'll never be the guy actually it will never the thing you chasing. Plus never assume they need you. Grow a pair. Mr. Poker just friendly advice I'm kind of joking around. Because either you seem like a smart guy just maybe not with "objects of desire" thing you stated. Because any woman would tell you. They love to be desired. Don't we all maybe. You are kidding too I hope or may you are just not as knowledgeable when it come to the one of the most powerful things in the word. I hope I don't have to say what that is online. But I tell you sometime that thing can move mountains and make a sane man crazy. I would like to say I can always hand the woman around it. But they are smart enough to work the best of us. LOL Just don't lets it happen as a pattern.

I think the videos are great people need to worry about their own lives then the way a company does business advertising especially when it doesn't hurt anyone! Look at Hooters and that's a family restaurant! None of the ladies are forced into these ads and Im sorry but all women want to feel sexy so chances are those who complain are jealous of what they see! And as with anything in life that u don't like don't look at it and turn it off no ones forcing u to watch! Also the ads obviously work cuz complainers are actually coming to this site. Come on people it's a harmless domain business and if u think sexuality is bad then don't procreate. One last comment in general, I hate when people say sex is a disgusting, dirty, and sinful act then say that it should only be done with the one u truely love! Interesting, huh!? Keep up the good work!

Dear Bob,
I like your Rule #6 which states "One Day At A Time". When I wrote this idea my way, I said it this way,"Every day is a new beginning."
Now for the reason and the *REAL*reason.
The cable company Comcast shut me off for non-payment[$662]. They made a verbal agreement with me that they broke. I have asked them to give me the name, address, and phone number of their Agent of Process. I believe taking a summer break, coupled with a healthy dose of homework, could actually be more healthy for me 'US' than just continuing unabated. You have shown time and time again that you are a team player and I really appreciate you loyalty. The time will give me more, not less. Thank you again, and remember,"Every Day Is A New Beginning"...

Just had to sawy a few words. First to all the complainers about the woman in the video. If you don't want to watch than close the page. If BOB was a fit, tall bulding muscle man, with hist shirt off, what would people want to complain about then. Oh maybe he was gay, %#^#% who cares. Obviously the message was more important that how attractive the girl was. In most cases even if it was corny she kep tthe attention there longer. She did not help sell godaddy at all. BOB DID. His comments, suggestions and help to all those who watched was the point of the video.

Secondly, I think there is good reason to have the combination of a solid paid campaign and effective natural search. Continue to produce quality informative information about your products or the market you service. Others will build links back to you site. Ensure your site is setup to PING and always have an RSS feed available for people to follow your updates. Soon you will naturally rank in the top of the search engine results.

Thank you Bob for your continued help. Your a leader to appreciate. Your offer very valuable knowledge.

Bob, In regards to DC's comment- it may appear to people reading this that of course you would call him on it- So if you will- please allow one of your CUSTOMERS to repond. DC- I have been a customer of GoDaddy's for going on two years now, and I own/manage between 30-100 domain names give or take depending on my client's needs. I have been in the web development business since 1996 and in that time have dealt with almost every registrar out there- including many fly by nights. Whatever you feel that GoDaddy has done to 'rip you off', I can almost guarantee that this was not the case. GoDaddy is an amazing company, and one that we should all encourage considering all the real crooks out there. Every professional, highly technical and experienced Internet individual I meet all say the same thing- GoDaddy is a Gem. Obviously you never called their customer support or used their website to Update DNS/Transfer Domain names or even move a Domain name AWAY from them, all of which are easy and fast vs. the notorious difficult hoops other registrars make you jump through (i'm not mentioning any names besides the jerks at Network Solutions, Domain Central, Netfirms, Yahoo and a host of others...). After using GoDaddy, I cannot recommend them highly enough- and these videos Bob puts out (thank you for these and keep them coming, we ARE paying attention and we DO appreciate more than you know!) are a Gem when other company leaders are too busy to share what they have learned building a great customer focused business and a successful one to boot!

So DC, either you are just paranoid, mistaken or a competitor looking to steer people away from the company that keeps taking business from you. Why don't you just go work for them instead, or start really paying attention to these videos and offer them some competition right back? I guarantee you this- using GoDaddy is one of the best decisions any personal/professional Internet user can make when it comes to Domain Names.

I am not affiliated with GoDaddy in any way (not even as a reseller) except as a customer- and obviously an extremely satisfied one at that (actually blown away every time I have to call them at how quick my issue is resolved and I'm off the phone and back in business!)... I highly recommend Bob and his troop of Domain name experts to everyone reading this.

Hello Bob and fellow readers. I have picked up so many great tips reading your blogs and watching your videos. I have just started my own web design and seo company after working for others in the web design and software development industry for many years.

I plan to target the smaller mom and pop businesses that need good a website presence to build and expand their businesses but are not willing to go to the big companies because they can't afford their big prices. My overhead is very low and therefore I can keep my pricing affordable to most small and startup businesses.

I am interested in advertising my business using PPC or paid advertising in the major search engines and was wondering if you could offer some tips for ad copy and keyword search for my business plan and goals. In otherwords, is there anything a bit different I should do or not do since I am targeting small and startup businesses rather than the general public?

Thank you and keep the great info coming.

I just wanted to say that the GoDaddy ladies make my day everytime I see one of the GoDaddy commercials whether on TV or the net. Anybody complaining about the way they dress must not watch TV or movies.

I purchased my site for a very unusual reason. At one time I owned stock in a company that shall remain unnamed that used it. I thought it quite funny to find it available.

I really wish I knew what to do with it since it seems such a good name.

Bob, I beleive that I once read that you don't install toll free numbers bubecause they are prone to abuse.

Considering this Customer Service video blog, I wanted to question that practice. We work for customers across the country, EVERYONE is calling long distance. We use toll free lines on both our regular lines and also offer a toll free fax line.

In my opinion that accomplishes three things.
1. Having toll free numbers may IMPLY that a small internet based business may be larger and more established than it really is.
2. Allowing customers to contact us without long distance charges demonstrates that we are encourging them to call with questions or complaints.
3. Our local area code is 906. While it is a regular run-of-the-mill area code, people are leary of any 900-ish number. Giving out the toll free number eliminates this objection.

I wonder if you can confirm your opinions on toll free numbers and how it fits in with customer service.

#101 Glen Pavlovich (http://www.commercialsbythedozen.com) on Jun 26 2009, 08:58 Reply
Dear Glen,

I said that we don't use them because they simply are not necessary and are literally a waste of money. Most folks have unlimited long distance minutes on cell phones or call from their employer. Either way it costs them nothing. To that add the fact that our customers don't spend much time on hold and you get the point.

As the comments continue to pour in, the message continues to be heard, the only problem is how to interpret it.

One could take the message at its face value and think.... "Maybe people are upset at the allusions to sex?"

I'll jump the the point here: I think that yes, sex sells but I also think its not that simple. It's not about sex to godaddy, it's about sex to you (the viewer). Godaddy doesnt need it to be about sex. It just has to be attractive.

Pretty Women, <—- Rarety Points = Attractive
Fancy Cars, <—- Rarety Points = Attractive
Lots of Money, <—- Rarety Points = Attractive
Flashing or moving things <—- Rarety Points = Attractive

You get the point. They all seem to deliver a similar response...

He could have a babies cursing or show the inner lives of movie stars, but thats already done on tv.

Heres whats going on. Anything that's very attractive to people also makes them very reactive. They get happy more and they get unhappy more. Some people get upset at the LACK OF CONTROL because they watch/think/remember it when they dont want to.

Bottom line: Some people are drawn in when they don't want to be drawn in.

Maybe I'm upset because I cant stop watching when I have work to do, maybe my girlfriend is upset because she cant stop thinking the girl in the ad is prettier than her. Bob's right, if she knew the girl she would probably think she was a sweetheart, and if I knew her maybe Dana has a limp and I wouldn't watch anymore.

In the end, the message is clearer by the day that the message to be heard is "Some people are upset with their lack of control." and that Godaddy is forcing some of them to deal with it.

Well.... I dont know what the answer is, but I will continue to watch Bob go at it and as he finds more ways to:

A) Give people control back as long as they still come to his website, or
B) Make them just not care as much that they are out of control glued to his 6 minute clips

Either way I'm watching because a) I want to keep learning, and b) because I know when to stop watching if its going to be a problem for my relationship which due to the level of security... It's not.

I'm a long-time, loyal GoDaddy customer. But I just don't get the logic behind your advertising campaigns. Not sure what all the girls have to do with domain registrations. The whole thing smacks of Hooters and a CEO with a midlife crisis. These images give me a negative opinion of the GoDaddy brand, although I will continue to use the service as I find it very useful.

And I disagree with Bob claiming he doesn't use sex to sell. What about all the busty women claiming they've been enhanced in the SuperBowl ads? And gimme a break with the burka comment. Nobody is claiming you should be forced to stop running ads featuring half naked women. Just man up and admit that you like to surround yourself with pretty women.
#111 Mark on Jun 25 2009, 11:32 Reply
Mark, Sorry to get involve in your comment. I just cant really understand why someone would waste time to ask such an foolish and question. First off if you think being around pretty woman is a midlife crisis. That gives young entrepreneurs like myself hope to keep striving to become success and "now I cant wait for my mid life crisis to began." Hopefully Im well rounded enough to really make a difference on this world like Bob is do, and enjoying every second.
If you want to get deep like I never ever mind getting when it comes to jealousy and people who spread negative energy. Its guys that act like you. That is ready slow down or draw negative attention in tough times to a guy like Bob someone giving opportunity to the people who maybe got fired or trying to empowering them selves not just asking for the gov. to handle it.
If you think the woman feel used or disrespected for being pretty and and being asked for that beauty to help a company promote indecency and empowerment. Its a job and most companies would do the same if they had the balls to. Oh and the image of hooters is wrong. If you had a clue or wasn't so negative. You would see the image a someone that see a company the teaching marketing secrets that most web optimization firm want to charge you thousands of dollar. GODADDY IMAGE SCREAMS EMPOWERMENT, INDEPENDENCE AND A MOST OF ALL FREEDOM. Freedom to succeed and freedom to do thing from were ever they internet reaches.
Godaddy SCREAMS" LIVE YOUR LIFE ON YOUR TERMS" Mark you should maybe get some vision and notice whats going on. Last but not least sometimes these girls feel disrespected when the closet perverts, bible thumpers that have to hate or they get judge buy the other Hippocrates they pray with, and last but not least maybe the worst kind of haters men who's wives are to insecure and control their husbands thoughts and content they view. This is when the girls feel disrespected and low. You said Bob something. Why don't you admit that if Bob. was to tell haters like you that sex sells, which it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out. Maybe he likes pretty women to be in his ads. Because he understands it makes the normal eye stay attracted to the screen or message a little bit longer. That means a greater return on his investment thats just pure fact. If bob said such things his competitors, hater may not so pretty woman and negative people like yourself would try to bring down his company. I my eyes my tool for EMPOWERING ME TO BECOME FREE" to never work for guys like you. Mark I'm not relly a nasty person just relies the big picture before you spread you negative word it may just ruin a few girls jobs and put them in the unemployment line because some judgmental or jealous guy like yourself would turn them down for a normal boring 9-5 job either. U think they are 2 pretty to be smart or the Wife may kill you if you hire a beautiful girl.

Dear Mark,

If you consider the females in any of our ad to be half naked you need to get out more. None of them are even close to being "half naked." And for that matter, exactly what would being half naked be?

And to get right to the point, what does being enhanced as it is discussed in our superbowl ad have to do with sex?

You seem to be excellent in wild generalizations and exaggerated claims, I'll give you that. But for this, to get your point across you'll need to be a bit more specific.

Include a contact form right on the landing page instead of making the user click through to another Contact Us page.

Also, make sure you A/B test your landing pages and use conversion tracking.

Make it easy for the end user, and you'll get more leads.

Bob, I have to say from being in the Search Marketing business I always cringe when someone as well-known as you starts talking about search. This time, though, I have to say "well done!" I'm sharing your entry with my sales staff so they can see how easily search marketing can be presented (I don't suppose you would be looking for a job ;-))

And sure, many people could go out there and try to do this themselves, but to do it right there is a fair bit of work involved as you mention. Constantly testing keywords/ads, coming up with new copy, and understanding the bidding process can be a full-time job to really get the most out of a campaign. Then multiply by 3 just for Google to understand search, partner search, and content network.

But enough naysaying. *10:1 returns are not unheard of*, and investing in a site without marketing it is like starting a business without telling anyone you are in business. So whether folks get out there and do it themselves, use GoDaddy's great tools, or hire someone to manage it, the important thing is to get your message out there!

Stop criticizing the 'Burka'. What would you know about it?

You're idea of female liberation is showing them in tight tops with breasts popping out. This is how you parade women; you use them as objects of desire, not of intellect. You're not empowering women, you're degrading them, and women are more than just fake breasts. I've never seen you use a woman in your campaign to show off her intelligence.

Shame on you Bob!

I have first degree in Business and pursuing another in IT and i love marketing with all my heart.I've never seen anyone advertise as innovatively as Bob does.
Come on Greg,we all love to see beautiful women,on the streets,Bill boards, screen and even our dreams.Marketers know that and simply get our attention with it then present us with a great product, now tell me you wont buy if you really wanted it.Bob is giving his audience more than a good service but serving an innate tendency.
This girls do not suggest sex in any way, they simply have gorgeous bodies and love what they are doing:Getting your attention like every woman does.I know that alot of women thrive on the attention they get from people if it keeps these girls happy and i get a good service and advice like i just did in the video episodes it sure is worth it.I'm here to get a domain.Obviously no where else gives me what i want.
Bob,I love to see these girls do what they do and do not see them as doing anything other than helping me get what i want, where i want. This is business for christ sake.

"Like domain names for example"...Yeah, cos we all know your the biggest crook and domain name thief going round! I searched for a pretty obscure domain name in the address bar a couple of years back, and when I went to back check it a couple of days later, it was registered to your Go-Daddy as a 'parking site'. Ironically, after searching for information on your company, and finding out a bit more about you, I came across one of your Blog entries discouraging this exact practice...So I guess it takes one to know one eh? Or were you just annoyed that other dodgy companies were doing the same thing, and taking all your precious commodities?

The law regarding the practice of software-aided domain name acquisition without the domain in question having previously been registered to the particular company who owns it currently has too many loopholes in it, and needs to be put under more scrutiny. They're letting sheisters like you get away with too much dodgy internet business, and it really needs to stop. I'm from Australia where the trend of illegal (well in my opinion anyway) domain name acquisition and trading is virtually non-existent - So I guess judging by that, that age old saying really rings true - "Only in America!" :|
#168 DC on Jun 22 2009, 02:20 Reply
Dear DC,

I have to call bullshit! on your claim. GoDaddy.com does not engage in front running domain names, never has and never will.

Someone else may have come behind you and registered the name you wanted, but I assure you that GoDaddy.com didn't and also didn't provide information to anyone that could have been used to register the name because you searched for it.

Sex sells it is true.
In marketing if your products are good enough you don’t need to use sex to sell. With that having been said my question is what is missing from the products or what is Bob trying to sell? Maybe it is what is Bob missing? Grow up Bob, high school is over and the old days are gone like the wind and you can't go back.

I sat back and thought about a nudie bar I went to one time. I recall seeing girls dressed just like the godaddy girls. Well they where dressed right before they went on stage. The bottom line is that was 30 years ago, before the wife and kids. I still remember the Hooters and the torn tops, the fact is sex leaves a lasting impression. Sex stories leave lasting impressions. I can not remember the girls name or the name of the bar but the Hooters that is another story. I remember them and the stories from that night.

My point is “what is it you want to be remembered for Bob?”
Is it your Name, Hooter or Cool ads on TV?
My wife hates the fact I use Godaddy as my hosting company because of the way the Godaddy site portrays females.

I say “Godaddy hosting” and she says “yea, the site with the smutty girls“.

Two people the same house two different opinions with two different memories of Godaddy

My perception is you have two campaigns going 1. Is the Godaddy.com project and the other is the Bob Parsons blows his own horn and gets cute girls to hang out with him because he is loaded. Project 2 is spilling over onto project 1. Your personal life is just that “personal“. Godaddy is no longer the Bob’s hosting company called Godaddy it is now a public portal / domain and needs to be treated as such.
Some day tomorrow will be here for all of us.

If you where to pass on right this moment
Bob please tell me how you would want me to remember Godaddy the company for. And what you would want the company to represent forever.

Then, well maybe, well, how should I actually remember you the person? Bob Parsons.

My memory of you right now is fast cars, faster girls, web site hosting. And a man spending money that I along with millions of other people have given him for a service his company Godaddy provides.

I did not build the memory of you. You did it in bits and parts over 8 or 9 years.

One last question how long do you think you will keep using sex to sell or promote information.

A friend
&
A Godaddy loyal customer

Greg
#170 Greg (http://www.howlongdo.com) on Jun 21 2009, 23:41 Reply
Dear Greg,

Ahhh....where do I start?

First, why is it because we use attractive, successful women in our commercials is the claim being made that we use sex to sell? Actually no where in any of our commercials is there even a suggestion of sex. I think the issue here is one where women have been stereotyped unfairly, that if they are attractive and having fun the implication is that sex is somehow involved. This is society's problem (at least some facets of it) and one which slowly we are overcoming. Keep in mind that in certain places during our day and age it is considered inappropriate for women to be dressed in anything but a burka because it is believed that a women being dressed otherwise suggests and temps sex. Clearly this is wrong thinking. But it's the same sort of thinking that says GoDaddy.com uses sex to sell when in fact we don't.

Regarding your marketing comment, putting the use of sex to sell (which I certainly don't) aside, I could not disagree with you more. Having a good product is certainly a necessity but that in itself won't accomplish much if folks don't know you have it. There's simply too much noise in our economy that keeps us from investing the time to check out each and every claim, and certainly that keeps us from investing the time to find products that are not effectively advertised.

As for your wife's comment, I can only say that if she took the time to understand the company and it's message she would feel differently.

All the above said, I want you to know that I treasure having you as a customer and very much appreciate you taking the time to post your comments here.

Great video. I came to GoDaddy to look at the reseller packages and wound up on the GoDaddy site for over and hour. Your "internet only" commercials are great and you have a great mix of business and entertainment. It works! As for those getting upset about the GoDaddy girls... well you are always going to have someone crying about something. So I refer you to Rule#12.

Hey Bob,

This one happens to be right up my alley. When building a list of keywords, be sure to to find out which keywords your competitors are advertising on — odds are they've stumbled across something you didn't think of.

For that, check out spyfu.com (my site) — its largely free.

I read/listen/watch your blog/podcast/vlog consistently — actually, I worked for you about 8 years ago (back at GoDaddy Ranch) and I've always admired your intensity and character.

Anyway, keep up the good work.

Hi Bob,

I have been a GoDaddy customer for over 2 years - your customer service is awesome, I have no complaint there! Our company has over 400 domains and hosted websites through you, but I have a problem with your marketing. I can tell from reading your blog, that you don't agree with people, like myself that would prefer you cloth the girls in your marketing ads a little more. And please don't tell me to lighten up, like you have so many of the other bloggers. My main problem is that ALL of my customers (that use your hosting and e-mail services) are conservative pediatric health professionals. Since your last super bowl ad, we've had many, many complaints form our customers that we do business with a company that is promoting sex through their marketing. I know you won't make any changes, since I'm sure your sexy ads sell more than others, it's just a shame it comes down to money on everything, where do we draw the line?

I actually didn't know about this. A hetero-as-can-be male brought it to my attention - he said he was grossed out.

But then his REAL father was a crossdresser. My first reaction was, " this is a guy's work, otherwise he'd have HOT men in it.

THEN I thought, the commercial is probably not "exciting" 3/4 of the population.

The bottom line is, how does it increase business. The last question is, "Bob, are you a crossdresser?!" NOT that it's a big deal, I live in The LBC and I've had a poet share such a secret on TPSradio whenit was heard on LBCTelevision.

How in the world is having Bob's assistant be a woman, and his sidekick, make her a bimbo. I thought the video was informative and humorous. Perfect combo. Women wear tank tops all summer long. She's treated as a member of the team and professionally. What the heck is wrong with people? Now, if you had her tied up to a chair and had the bulls eye shooting directed at her — now that would be something to complain about. I enjoyed the video. Great job.

Bob - your "lighten up" comment/order is another great way to denigrate women – no need to take one seriously, eh? The other woman's comments were right – you don't need to show women as sluts. It IS offensive.
#226 sarah tomley (http://www.guerillagirlsonline.com) on Jun 17 2009, 09:50 Reply
"Sluts" is your own perception of this girl, whom you know nothing about... calling her a "slut" is an insult for someone being paid to do an honest job and the guts to actually do it, risking half of the responses from people such as yourself referring to her as a "slut", "bimbo" and other degrading terms that were not even implied in the video or anyone else except yourself and a few others who have responded. Is it the fact that someone could possibly be turned on by an attractive female that stimulates this response?

The fact that she would accept the job shows she's comfortable enough with herself to do it, she's making her own money on her own terms and her own decisions, so why that makes you so uncomfortable is beyond me unless you're jealous or hate men. This is America and all people should have the liberties to do as they choose.

She's not being abused, mistreated, and nothing sexual is implied in the context of the video's content except that she's good looking and wearing a tight shirt. And I'm sure she was paid fairly for her time, she looks happy to be standing there next to Bob.

I'd gladly pay the army of willing hot young women to be in my videos to promote them. People will watch them... 'nuff said. That's what it's all about...
#226.1 Jamez on Jun 17 2009, 15:04 Reply
Dear sarah,

How in the world is me saying "lighten up" denigrating women overall — when I didn't say "lighten up" to all women. I said it to just one particular "woman." Believe it or not I have also said the same thing to males who have posted here. Afterwards I don't recall people stepping up and accusing me of denigrating males everywhere.

Of course, it is possible that that particular woman was commenting and calling my assistant a "slut" and doing it on behalf of and at the request of "all women everywhere." We both of course know that that's not the case.

I will say that this happens to be America and we don't throw stones (verbal or otherwise) at women who happen to appear in public and are not wearing a burka.

I think it only appropriate I also suggest that you lighten up as well. Try it why don't you? You'll not only enjoy life a bit more, you'll also live longer.

Just for the record I want you to know that my comments here are NOT directed to women everywhere — they are intended for and refer only to you. Party on! :)

I did check out your website ... guerillagirls.com. I found it interesting, although I must say a female sporting a guerilla head is a bit frightening to me. Nevertheless, I would be willing to discuss all this with you further in a more public forum. Would you like to be a guest on Radio Go Daddy?

Yo Bob,

Everyone who has a beef w/ girls in the video are jealous I think. However I do wish they'd come off more "Miss America" and less "Hooters". Why not have one of them who understands the ins and outs of PPC advertising give the presentation??? I'd much rather watch them speak, and intelligently vs. quick scripted sidekick.

Consideration: It's better for everyone that way: I get to watch a good looking gal that I will watch even if I already know the material, and nobody is going to call her a bimbo and act unnecessarily offended to be GD Customers. And, I've never seen a sexy gal explain Online Marketing. This needs to be done - please make it happen...!

What about the online advertising business model [not widget/e-commerce/product based] where info is the product & the goal is to attract uv's/page views that advertisers/rep firms/agencies would be interested in. Hey if a woman wants a guy with a big wallet, and nice car, whats wrong with a guy wanting a woman with some sensibility to save cash on domains and hosting?
I think the fact that go daddy girls are hot!! is just a plus, they obviously understand the value of a good brand, and that what Bob has here. The best customer service on the planet and now one of the best brands ever.

Always succinct, yet still entertaining, Bob.

You must be nearing 2,000+ employees, based on your prior growth rate. Pretty amazing.

Driving one company to nearly $100 million in valuation is one thing. Doing it twice? That's a sacred seat reserved for rock star entrepreneurs.

Well done. Keep the pedal to the metal.

I love using GoDaddy. I'm about to start another website so I checked out your video. Great content! You are an excellent speaker. But I hated the cheesy rock music opening. I think it cheapens your credibility. You're a super-knowledgeable guy but the opening to the ad makes you sound like you're going to sell us a mattress!

Dear Jeananne,

You might try a few different approaches. First are you really selling something that folks want? If so, is the offer such that it's difficult to resist (it needs to be).

Second, GoDaddy.com has a Dream Website team. You might call them and see what they say. They might be able to help you on a more economical basis.

I wish you the best,

I have a question for you. I have been working with computers for years now, and have mostly have been doing this in my spare time.

My question is that it takes forever to create a new program. And this program is seemingly small in size, only a few K. My question is how the heck do you gauge what a good time for a program build is. I am probably a little slow anyhow, always have been. But the frustration factor is still there. What is a person like me supposed to do?

Hay Bob,
I have a question for you. I have been working with computers for quite a few years now. My question is is that it takes me a seemingly very long time to create a new program.

I am pleased with the results, but the program seems to be only a few K in size, but has taken usually between sixteen and twenty hours, or even up to thirty hours to create.

I like the computer, except that it really frustrates the heck out of me that it takes so long to build anything new and since I spend so much time on my own in this darn apartment, I ready to give up. What the heck does a guy in my shoes do?

Thanks,
Dave

Dear David,

It takes time to do this stuff brother. The second time it will take less time and on and on. Eventually it won't take so long.

You might consider learning a programming medium that isn't so laborious for the coder. I suggest Ruby On Rails and also Ajax.

#306 Jim Woolley (http://www.myfutureprotected.com) on Jun 11 2009, 14:00 Reply
Dear Jim,

Ad words are ONLY expensive if they are NOT delivering results. Before you purchase them you have to decide:
1. What exactly do you want them to accomplish, and
2. How you will measure it (and you must be able to measure it).

If you can't answer both items 1 and 2 you shouldn't purchase search advertising. If you can, then start very small until such time as you get the search engine advertising to work to your satisfaction, then start thinking about stepping it up.

Great tips Bob,
I still think that organic ranking is more valuable. They tend to stay longer on Google, and best of all, they're absolutely free. Using paid advertisments is a good way, however, to get quick traffic that you wouldn't necessarily get with regular organic ranking.

I have found that the search advertising does work, but if you have the time and patience. A good social network advertising really goes a long way. With my site, I have built up a loyal twitter follower database of about 900. Every time I post I get about 10% of those directly to my site. AND ITS FREE!

Keep up the good work and continue to be as natural and kind hearted as you are and I know great things will continue to happen for you and your company. I recently decided to swithch my domain and web maintenance to your company. This decision was prior to knowing who you actually was and prior to seeing you on the Nightline show. Again, congrats and everyone is routing for you and continued success. I love your ten (10) pointers t being successful and making it in the business world. As we know, faith is a key factor.

This is great intro for those new to online marketing. I would like to offer some free tips here though to help out.

Relevancy is key! As demonstrated by Bob's screwdriver example. To advertise MORE effectively you should also target brand names such as 'Philips screwdriver'.

Who do you think is more keen to buy? Someone typing in 'screwdriver' is just browsing. Someone typing in 'Philips screwdriver' knows what they want to buy. Advertising costs, in general, are cheaper depending on the length of the keyword. So it's win-win.

@ John from PebblePace - I would never pay for advertising if my only method of income was adsense. You will be paying more money for Google Search than they would be for Google Content.

The Seven Best Things About GoDaddy:

1. Outstanding live technical support 24/7. No kidding live, and they don't keep you on hold more than a couple of minutes.
2. Real live Americans on the other end. Nuff said.
3. Easy quick install applications. This is great if you want a blog or forum, but don't know the first thing about either. GoDaddy lets you select which application you want and install it automatically. You don't need to know the first thing about programming.
4. Fast Websites for beginners. You don't have to be a techno-geek to put together a respectable site in less than twenty-four hours with GoDaddy's Website Tonight feature.
5. The price. Great deals, especially when you consider the amount of free stuff that is included with even the cheapest plans.
6. Help to keep you from looking stupid all over the Internet. GoDaddy offers simple tips to stop you from picking a ridiculous domain name. Avail yourself of this service if your friends have a tendency to laugh at you or if you answer to the name "Dork."
7. That hunk of burning love Bob Parsons. Seriously, he's hot and smart; he's the guy who started GoDaddy. Check out his video blog for great marketing tips.

Hey Bob - nice one re. search engines. One question about something you mentioned, "how do i know if my ad is working?"

Here you say, "you need to measure the results the moment your ads hit the search engines. Track the effectiveness of each ad."

I am doing this, like many people, but I'm still a bit confused as to what is actually effective. I guess my real question is what kind of click thru rate do you consider to be worthwhile? I have been getting about 5% and some friends have said this is AMAZING while others consider it to be subpar. I'm wondering if I should be retooling.

Thanks for your always helpful advice.

Aloha Bob,
"Geo-Targeting" is certainly a hot button for us Ad-Words advertisers that want to gain the most effective campaigns. We've used Ad-Words for some time now, and targeting specific geographical and regional "pockets" of customers is one way that we benefit from constantly measuring the results. GO-AZ content in this video blog is well received. Anyone reading this should know that I've visited these motorcycle stores and I'll testify that you practice what you preach.
Organized, professional, and up-beat.
There is so much business available to us in ANY economy. When we adopt the principals taught in these videos, we increase our success rate by a factor equal to our efforts. Keep em' coming, we appreciate (and always benefit from) your work.
Mahalo,
Tim.

Bob, this post is a great introduction to using PPC advertising and you hit on all the major points.

Remember Bob's rule #9 To make PPC work for you instead of putting you into the poorhouse you MUST Track results and the keywords so you don't pay for clicks that don't create revenue for your business- Remember that keywords won't magically start converting later either so dump the clunkers unless you decide to make a change on your site or landing page that captures the traffic brought by that keyword. And don't set up a PPC campaign and leave it to spend your money for 2 weeks you have to watch these so you can improve them.

To me one of the best parts about all the major PPC providers is, you can control your budget on a per click, per keyword or per day basis. So don't sit and think about it- just get in there and do it - it can only cost as much as you choose to risk. I enjoyed this video and look forward to what you have to say next. Keep em comin'

Obviously if selling products, then initiating an advertising campaign makes sense (financially). But what if you're not selling products? My only revenue is AdSense clicks and some commissions through affiliate sales. My site makes ~$1k per year. It's a niche market and getting audience share is difficult. What advertising options exist for sites like mine? I don't want to run a negative cash flow just to boost traffic. If I advertise, I want those new people to come and click the AdSense ads. What advertising channels are good for information based sites? And how do we the keep the advertising cost to as close to zero as possible? Thank you.
#384 John (http://www.pebbleplace.com) on Jun 6 2009, 11:44 Reply
Hey John

When your only revenue is coming from adsense there are a few things you can do.

1.) Advertise on the cheaper search engines.
2.) Plug-in affiliate products. Surely your site has some content, right? If it does I'm sure there are several products that are related to your particular niche, and if it doesn't sell so what, the only thing you had to do was add a link.

3.) Get more traffic (obliviously) and the thing is that you want have to pay for it if you do it right. I suggest writing articles and submitting them to directories, and the beauty about that is you get to add your own links pointing to your site or to your affiliate link page.

Great Advice! But there's only one problem... The World Wide Web is a crazy place and if someone knows absolutely nothing about marketing, but wants desperately to learn and doesn't have the financial backing or stability to do so, it can make life extremely depressing!

An Example would be my own website. It's SICK, SLOW, and SAD! My "Word of Mouth" Advertising is going south and my dreams are there with it.

Any advice or professional uplift would be great!

#388 Gary Grigg (http://www.mtnwesttradingpost.com) on Jun 6 2009, 07:27 Reply
Yes search engine advertising can get very expensive if you are not sure how to do it properly. The key to a great search engine campaign is to not go for the golden keywords but choose keywords that someone in your particular niche would search for. For example say you are selling a weight loss product. clearly the keyword weight loss, and diet products are going to be high cpc keywords but you could target something that would be releated for example.) Low calorie foods. Now, I know that most people that are searching these terms are looking for information on how to eat right, which most likely means that they are going to be going on a diet, and viola you have a great keyword that isn't going to crush your advertising budget.

Bob, great advice on customer service, but the latest Danica video ad was disappointing. Way over the top on sleaz factor and woefully underdone on class. You might have had Danica approached by a macho male patrol officer and pulled in more humor from his surprise at Danica's disappointment that her speed was so slow...or something with a bit more taste. Not that pole dancing doesn't have its place, but the punchline did offer some recovery. Well done on that point.

Finally someone put it correctly-The customer is not always right, but the customer is always the customer-only one more caveat needed-unfortunately on rare occasions we have to end a customer relationship when it becomes a lose/win based relationship to maintain our own capacity to service the other 99% with superior service even when they are wrong. Hi Bob! I am 63 years young and looking forward to profit from my reseller business.

Customer Service I was raised in a "mom and pop" grocery store. (our living quarters were connected to the store) My dad (Bob) would tell me: "If you don't treat the customer right, he'll go to Lou's down the street." Your video spiel on customer service hit the nail on the head.
Dad would also say: "You can shear a sheep several times, you only kill it once."
From the very start of doing business wth GoDaddy I have been impressed with your support team. That is primarily the reason I signed up as a "Proseler." I have a lot to learn, but I know I have access to undoubtibly the finest host company on the planet.
Oh, by the way, could you tone down the the "GoDaddy Girls," it stirs my libido and ticks off my wife of 37 years. rofol...just kidding.
Thanks for being there. Dom

I recommend godaddy.com to all of my clientele. I read through the comments and watched the commercial today.

At first I was adverse to the new commercial. More gyrating sex based advertising, but then it hit me...what am I talking about? Sex is the number one marketing tool in America. It doesn't matter what you’re selling, put a hot girl or guy on the box and BAM you double your sales.

Yeah, you get a few people who make a lot of noise but they still look at your product, they talk about it, someone else hears it and BOOM another sale.

Keep making the commercials, keep pushing the envelope. Marketing is marketing. At least yours are obvious and straightforward.

I'll keep throwing clients your way and you just keep doing what you do!

Dear Bob,
I have been a Godaddy customer now for a couple of years now, and have had pretty darn good luck with your customer service.
I am still working on learning how to program websites and all of that. However, it is good that I have found a company that I can work with and offers good products.
I have also read some of the comments that others have made. And disagree with some of the comments that tend to be derogatory to Godaddy.com or Bob himself.
I just want to let you guys at Godaddy.com know that when I get all growed up and have my own business that I want to be just like Bob himself. Outgoing and confident enough to be his own self regardless of what other people say.

Thanks,
Dave

Customer Service is #1 and I am glad to hear you agree. I was raised in a coastal community and was taught this fact early. The customer is the life blood of a company and should be treated as such.

When a customer has difficulties with your business it is vital you help them. Even if that means the loss of a couple of dollars. They will bring other customers if they are satisfied and your losses will become your gains.

Thanks for your blogs, Scott

I agree up to a certain degree with your strategy.

However, no matter how good your customer service is, there will always be somebody who doesn't appreciate and give you a hard time all the times. Always.

Those people show their appreciation in increasing requests over time, one half complete payment ever, and unability to recognize their own limits and faults. There is no way to get rid of them, and since it is virtually impossible to come to a common agreement, it often comes close to an open war.

I'm talking about a single experience which lasts now for over a year, and for the whole period there was not one single case in which I could tell it was my fault. It took me all my patience and knowledge of over 20 years of customer service, to convince that one customer he was most of the times wrong. So I achieved he wasn't shouting at me at first just after taking the phone off hook.

My question is: do you have such customers, too? Does your strategy still apply or would you try to drop that one ASAP?

Giovanni

Your work with Danica is brilliant. She is a GREAT spokesperson. And yes- I was intrigued when she first arrived on the scene. Yes she made me a multi-domain customer. YES- the campaign is working. And the adds...well we all know "sex" sells. But "curiosity" sells even BETTER. Bring the two together....sheer genius. And the American Way. Thinking on their feet in your think tank they are!!!
As for Danica, a class act and a helluva driver. My wife and I are racing fans and we have followed her career closely. Can't wait for her to win Indy.
Her MM race this past weekend was a good one, too.
All you guys and GIRLS, keep up the good work and continue to keep it FUN!! Will keep watching- and Buying.

The information was personal and nice. However, the commercial and the "hooter-type" girls are not appealing for women who are serious about their ecommerce business. I agree. It is great that godaddy uses some women that have achieved success in a respectable profession. However, the fake-boobed bimbo crap is not needed. I am positive my primarily female customer base does not care for godaddy's TNA advertising. (Thankfully the ssl site seals are now available without godaddy on them.) The pricing and customer service are great. But, as soon as I find something better I will leave godaddy. If they ever decide not to portray women as skanks - I would be happy to be a godaddy customer.

Bad publicity? I doubt it. Some of the craziest commercials (even those that people love to hate) have been the most successful.

The rule that applies to commercials is the same that applies to women. When I was young, my father said: 'Son, in this world there are good girls and bad girls. And some of the bad girls can be pretty good' .. Thanks Bob (And thank you Girls. You are good. (Or is that bad?)

I'm moving my sites because of the poor, almost void customer service at my existing hosting service. Moving around the internet and at the advice of my Web Designer I ended up on godaddy looking for a place to land my sites. Wandering and clicking within godaddy. somehow I got to this page. Being a female, senior citizen I liked and didn't like your video. I stayed through it because you had that "ADD COMMENT" on the lower right under the video and you were speaking truth about the importance of customer service. Then I read the comments others had left. Although your message was wonderful, throughout the clip, I could not figure out why godaddy had you on their site. There seemed no tie-in. I kept waiting for you to refer to godaddy and compare customer service or recommend them because of a personal experience or something. It wasn't until later, after I'd read though several comments from viewers that I realized that you are the President/CEO/in charge of marketing? of godaddy? Just curious as to your position...cuss regardless of your position you're one smart cookie!! The video seemed to assume I knew you and godaddy history. That too is clever marketing. I roamed even more to find the answer. All in all you did a great job.

You could have such fun with it...or striper polls that would be cool had em @ da Bud Bowl n Tampa.
Hey we see all kinds of things on the road or in our local venues I must say your ads give us a good chuckle. I would like to see something like the Nextel ad "What if roadies ruled the world" that would be funny! Well we would find it funny...and then again if done right so would anyone with half a brain! Maybe a good Superbowl 2010 ad...I think it's in Miami well let's just say I hope it is. I just can't wait to work it cause Tampa was fun! Miami will be even better cause the bass fishing that way off U.S. 27 is unbelievable!
Ok so I've had my say and fun thanks for the soap box...next!!!
Bob keep up the good work cause the ads kick ass!

Customer service aside, godaddy is super awesome coz of .99 info domains, though the need to have a credit card associated with the paypal account sucks. I don't have one and have to beg my friend to buy me domains. :(

Love your 16 rules !

Dear BOB (wanna be a sugar daddy) with all due respect - I’m sure you sometimes do manage to be funny and I admire the courage to try to be also on the ads.
but when we saw BOB we were about to ask for our 300 domains to be transferred. Fortunately we pressed a wrong button to show our partners and by mistake Danicas commercial (brilliant!)came on and so we decided to stay despite this little accident of getting to see the Sugar Daddy is not a candy. Next time you do a test I suggest putting Danica first when experimenting just in case the customers turns it off and doesn’t get to see the rest. But we still love GoDaddy so we will stay with you if you really value and post constructive feedback as well as only good commentaries. after all you are very brave to try this in spite the warnings, I am sure your marketing experts gently advised.
And we do appreciate very much the customer service on the phone, even if the customer service in training made some blunders that might insult a multilingual MBA marketing 1st place national mkt strategies award holders, who fortunately never gets insulted and finds this kind of unfunny blunder kind of funny that you would risk your company despite the careful warnings. So hurray to BOB for the courage, to try to prove the world otherwise and for not being too discouraged that , sometimes it is better to remain unseen and let the people dream. So despite us being Europeans as American, we have invested some domains with Godaddy, because we recognize their excellent marketing. You do not need to engage in the marketing of fear tactics, like explaining how bad the other companies are instead of how good yours is. Or threatening about what will happen if I do not purchase private registration, just because i called and asked to put all our domains under one account and then a phone person in training tried to sell us private registration for outrageous price when it is offered for free. But we are sure that as an excellent customer service effort you will make it up to us as always, so Hurray for Panica saves the DAY!! and for BOB who once again gets away! And yes Speed it UP –DANICA!!

Hello Bob,

I’m in the process of moving all of my domains to you guys and I just want to say.

You service is the best I have ever come a crossed. The Support people called ME.

You guys are always available to answer my questions no matter how big or small

My other “Service Provider” I would call and be on hold waiting for hours to get a hold of someone to fix or help me with my problem just to be told that the person that can fix the problem was not there and I would have to “Wait” till they got to it.
NICE

Thanks

I remember Parson's software catalogs arriving in the mail, and I believe I purchased one product or I really, really, wanted to.

Being a Christian, I was interested in the QuickVerse product. I miss those days and the catalogs!!

When I found out that Bob owned GoDaddy, I registered my domain name here, and I have three now! I'm looking to become a reseller soon. I love the IT industry, and have been active in it for 20 years.

I believe in Bob's vision, and I've seem something similar from Sam Walton (Wal-mart founder). I'm looking for companies and strategic partners that are customer-centric.

As for the marketing, well, it is definately edgy. However, Bob Parsons is a man of good character. There are definately greater issue battles out there than how Bob advertises GoDaddy. I wouldn't trust any of my web sites with anyone else.

I do sympathize with Karen, but I look at the whole issue of domain and hosting - which, by itself is very boring - and I like that Bob adds some spark to the business.

If you don't like the ads, don't watch them. I've never seen Bob's blog and I wanted to see what the big brouhaha was. Give me a bloody break, that wasn't even R rated compared to what's on TV today!! Get a grip, people, and learn to appreciate what Bob has done in the domain industry.

But the main selling point with GoDaddy is their customer service. Top notch.

Bob, keep up the good work!

God Bless!

I agree 100% with sticking to it and listening to your customers. The customer may not always be right, but the customer should always be happy from the beginning of the sale, and long after the purchase. Word of mouth is still the best convincing advertising.

Dear Bob,

I just wanted to let you know, how awesome your Office of the President is. Today I spoke with Jeff and Mandy to let them know that I have been applying for a position with GoDaddy now for 4 years. I purchased a house in Mesa, AZ and have always wanted to work for you and live there. But since I never heard any response from your recruting team. I offered a suggestion that I think would be very nice.

And that is once a position at GoDaddy has been fulfilled to respond to the candidates with a letter explaining that the position has been filled but not to give up, and that your resume will be kept on file, should anything that might meet your qualification you will be contacted.

This gives the candidates hope, and also enhances the GoDaddy's reputation as an efficient and professional organization, and you never know when you might have an opening down the road that this particular candidate could fit perfectly.

I hope you find this useful.

Sincerely,

Dan Ferrara

I own about 50 domains through Godaddy and have been a customer for years. I have referred you to 100's of people throughout the years. As a web guy who specializes in SEO I know the best of the best when it comes to the web and technology. Godaddy is the best without a doubt at what they do! And it's crazy that you can even call and get a live person on the phone who is even well trained! So I'm ion love with godaddy, and to read a post by some moron acusing you of bait in switch when it CLEARLY states the $6.99 price is on TRANSFERS. Is the recession so bad that she had to write a letter all pissed about paying $9.99 for a domain name? I paid around $40 for my first domain HeathLedger.com (before godaddy was around) — So to be able to pick up domain names today for under $10 is pretty cool. So I'm going to make you a deal...I will mail you $3 if you admit you are stupid.

Bob,
I just logged on to thank you for running an excellent company when I saw your current video blog. Fitting that it was regarding customer service!
I called for support on Tuesday afternoon. Your service rep was outstanding! He was patient while trying to understand my problem and subsequent questions. He resolved my problem and verified that it was resolved on my end. He answered my questions, made service recommendations and implemented them without having a pushy sales approach. Overall, I was very impressed with the service that I was provided. As an added bonus, my wait time to speak to a service rep was less than 30 seconds! Very impressive!
Thank you for providing excellent products and services, stellar support and prices that are a fraction of other providers.

Bob,

Love the ads and love your business model.

Have been a devoted client for 5+ years and have a few hundred domains with you. Your customer service is top notch, your marketing is controversial (which I love), and you are a great inspiration.

For those comments above that are negative about your ads... DON'T WATCH THEM THEN.

One of the big reasons Godaddy has done so well is that they are willing to push the edge, and offend a few people along the way (the people usually offended are not buyers anyhow).

Keep up the great work. Troy

I've been a loyal referring customer for 3 years, building websites, installing shopping carts and certificates, and an affiliate too. (A 38 year old Mom, and not too bad looking either.) I was embarassed when the "Godaddy Girls" started with Danica. It's really grown from that. I finally watched your blog today and one ad for the first time. Not totally tasteless, a bit funny, but I'll probably always have a hard time with marketing like this. I watched the race this weekend, and every time I heard "Danica" it was actually not a positive feeling, sorry to say. I can't help feeling both Danica and GoDaddy lost some points on branding with customers like me.

However, if you look me up, you'll see just how much I love your customer service. In fact, as marketing manager of a small, national software company, I'm using Godaddy as my example of excellent customer service as I lead our company to understand our customer, listen, and work to improve service.

Bob, I'm not sure what else to tell you. For me, it's not all plus marks. I understand the Godaddy Girls for marketing, and it's probably working great for your target market, so I really can't blame you. It's probably that you don't have many 38 year old Mom's as customers.

I'll still stick with ya, as I have from the birth of my company. This is probably as close as I will come to the Godaddy Girls.

I wish you the best. As long as my customers don't get weird about your marketing and branding, I'll stay.

Thanks, and good luck,
