Outrageous Ads.  Our new ad for the NFC playoff games.  Super Bowl Blues.

Every once and a while I see a news article on the net that is very cool. CNNMoney recently did one called 14 Outrageous ads from 2005. The subtitle to the article is “There’s a thin line between being offended and being sold.” The article also contains a link at the bottom which provides the user with a rogue’s gallery of offensive ads. As you might guess, GoDaddy’s ad from last year’s Super Bowl made the list. I couldn’t be more proud.

Go Daddy will be advertising during the NFC playoff games!
We are busy finishing production on two new ads. Both feature Candice Michelle, our Go Daddy Girl. In my opinion, the ads are both hot, well done and "GoDaddy-esque." One of the ads – one we call “window washer” — will show during all of the upcoming NFC playoff games which are being broadcast by Fox.

The "Internet only" version will be available Saturday.
As you might guess, there’s also a special extended “Internet only” more GoDaddy-esque version of our “window washer” ad. This, like our other “Internet only” versions, should be a lot of fun. Both the “window washer” television ad and the “Internet only” version will be available on GoDaddy.com this coming Saturday.

The Super Bowl remains a question mark.
We still are not sure if we’re going to advertise during the Super Bowl or not. I believe the ad we currently have submitted will be rejected. When this happens we will have to decide to either go back to the cutting room floor, or raise the white flag. The ad we’d like to show during the Super Bowl is a bit more "GoDaddy-esque" than the one we have slotted for the playoff games. There’s also an extended "Internet only" version of that ad as well.

Last year it took a while to get our ad approved.
To put things into perspective, last year at this time our Super Bowl ad was still not approved. In fact our ad didn't get approved until mid to late January. The first couple of iterations we submitted were rejected. So there is still time to get an ad approved for this year's game.

Working with each network's censors requires patience.
Dealing with each network's 'Standards and Practices' committee is certainly a unique experience. Advertisers are allowed to have no contact with the censorship group —- other than 2nd or 3rd hand. The S&P committee is also very deliberate in making their decisions. The process, from when an ad is submitted for consideration to when a decision is returned, can take several days.

I will post any news here as it develops.
