A Playboy cover girl, world class athlete & NOW A Go Daddy Girl! Plus the Go Daddy Live football report with Ocho Cinco.

Next week at a formal news conference I will announce our newest celebrity Go Daddy Girl!

Hints, hints, hints.
Here are a few hints (all of which are why I like this new Go Daddy Girl): she rides a Ducati motorcycle and is a world class athlete. She's definitely GoDaddyEsque (i.e. edgy, fun and slightly inappropriate) and has been on the cover of Playboy magazine. Finally she's an accomplished businesswoman who looks red hot when she's wet.

The Go Daddy Football report.
Chad Johnson - Ocho Cinco - will be joining yours truly each week on my Go Daddy Live podcast where together we will provide the Go Daddy Football report. During today's show - among other topics - we talked about the NFL issuing a memo warning home teams not to use cheerleader warm-ups to distract visiting teams. Got anything you want me to ask Chad? Call in live to the show, or post your question here.

The world has one less Ducati.
Last Thursday, I was on my way to get a haircut when -- WHAM! -- in a split second -- it happened! I was on Hwy 101 (beltway for Phoenix metro area) in the fast lane following a very old Toyota. For whatever reason the driver decided to brake hard and to make matters worse, the Toyota had no brake lights. It took me a moment too long to realize what was happening and I reacted late. I was doing about 60 mph when I locked up the Ducati's powerful front Brembo brakes and the bike slowed a bunch then flipped throwing me to the asphalt. At least I think it flipped, hard-to-tell it all happened so quick. I never touched the Toyota. Only my Ducati and I were involved in the mishap.

I walked away from it.
I'm happy to report I walked away from the accident. No tickets were given and although a little bruised, I'm just fine.

Excellent motorcycle equipment.
The reason I walked away from the mishap was solely attributable to my gear. I hit the asphalt hard.
Icon reinforced jeans (which never ripped) kept me from getting scraped up.
• The pads on my Frank Thomas jacket saved my shoulders.
Alpine Star knee pads saved my knees.
Dainese boots saved my feet.
Shoei X-11 helmet saved me from cracking my head.

Each piece of equipment was scraped and dented. But in each case, the equipment took the brunt of the accident and worked perfectly. So from the bottom of my heart to each of these vendors: "Thanks guys! Words simply cannot express how much I appreciate your fine products!" And to all my fellow motorcyclists, I would feel remiss if I didn't repeat something I read in Motorcycle Consumer News: Wear all your gear, all the time. No exceptions -- ever. I'm sure glad I was wearing safety gear.

A new land speed record.
A few weeks ago, the Go Daddy Live staff and I visited the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah for the American Motorclist Association's land speed trials.

Go Valerie Go!
Go Daddy Girl Valerie Thompson, a veteran at the Salt Flats did in fact set a new land speed record. Valerie managed to ride a vintage Harley Davidson Pan Head for an average speed of 161.736 mph during the measured mile.

A new Go Daddy Live Video!
I also entered the speed trials and rode a mostly unmodified BMW K 1200 R Sport motorcycle. During each of my attempts I experienced a phenomena where the BMW started shaking pretty violently - not a mild shake - at about 150 mph or so. So whenever I hit that speed I had to throttle back until the bike stabilized. Needless to say, I didn't set a land speed record but had a lot of fun, and plan on returning next year. Click here to see the Go Daddy Live video taken at the Salt Flats. Enjoy!

Until next time.
